Using group in with find in an ActiveRecord appropriately
I''m playing around with the Practical Rails Projects code, and was
attempting to make a change for graphing data differently using
groupings.
Basically the code went from:
total_weight = @exercise.activities.collect {|e| e.repetitions
* e.resistance}
workout_dates = @exercise.activities.collect {|e|
e.workout.date.to_s}
To:
total_weight = @exercise.activities.find(
:all,
:select =>

I've found the NAS Parallel Benchmarks to be quite a good workout:
http://www.nas.nasa.gov/Resources/Software/npb.html
They are medium-sized benchmarks, so substantial without being totally
overwhelming. They manifest pretty much all of your points above. The
basic linear scan algorithm seems to do fairly well on them so it makes
for a good comparison.

I did not miss it. As you'll see from another of my posts: I tried
that. The dynamic zone code crashed named. (Don't know why, yet. It
happened at the end of the day, and I no longer skip workout time for
work, no matter *how* interesting the problem, so...)
However...
I have to say that lash-up strikes me as kind of fragile.

"Ahhh man not another stupid newbie question! are these people completely

Yes I have spent hours researching on Google, but what may take me 3 days
to workout, wading through pages of out of date information, can normally
be answered by some with a little experience in seconds.

adding text to the top corner of a lattice plot
...print:
print(p.preds, split=c(1,1, 2,2), more=TRUE)
print(p.comp, split=c(2,1,2,2), more=TRUE)
print(p.bw, split=c(1,2,2,2), more=FALSE)
What I'd like to have is a letter (A, B, ...) in the top corner of
each plot. While panel.text lets me add text anywhere within a plot, I
can't seem to workout how I could put some text in the top left
corner, say, of the whole plotting region.
Any pointers would be appreciated

[LLVMdev] Goog test-cases for a new register allocator
Hi,
As I mentioned some time ago on the mailing list, I'm working on the
implementation of the Sarkar's Extended Linear Scan algorithm for LLVM.
For testing and debugging of this algorithm, I need some good
test-cases that check different functionalities of the register
allocator, e.g.:
- test-cases involving a lot of spilling
- test-cases using pre-colored registers, e.g. like the EAX

Handling multiple developers making migrations and using svn
...using a subversion repository
for our source control. Now, the problem....
We are both making migrations and checking them into SVN. So, if in our
checkout we have migrations up to 10 and we each make one, we both now have
the 11th migration. So, when we check-in, there are no problems and things
workout just fine. But, after a checkout and a "rake migrate" a problem
occurs. Since there are now two 11 migrations, the migrate barfs and dies.
My solutions so far look like this:
1. Manually make sure that the migrations are numbered in numerical
order
2. Some how figure out a way...

Re: What antivirus program is the best for a computer?
I was using MaAfee(free version) antivirus. That's good but it makes my pc too slow. I am using kaspersky now. But searching the web I came to know that Bitdefender is the most popular antivirus. It was a beneficial workout for me to go through your web page. It definitely stretches the limits with the mind when you go through very good info and make an effort to interpret it properly.

[LLVMdev] [Cygwin] llvm 'make install' build errors
.... I believe I
found another error in the post 1.5 "fork" CVS before the 1.5 release :(
Thanks for solving that. I do not mind doing the Cygwin builds, although I
wish I had updated the RAM on this machine to 1GByte as the whole build
process takes over three hours. It would be good to workout how to do
non-debug builds as that would speed up the linking, which is particularly
slow.
I don't want to be a slave driver but any thoughts on the groff error ???:)

Re: Windows apps from windows parttion
not directories, the contents of the windows registry.
I havent yet managed to workout what file(s) this is stored in in win,
but you can export keys from the regedit program in win.
The majority of programs store keys in /local machine/software/<app name>
for these you should be able to export the key folders to a text file
and import that into Wine.
btw, when I did this...
