how to take least risk on rsync dir
Hello list, When rsync dir_A to dir_B, I hope I wont make any change to the original dir_B unless the rsync procedure end withour errors, therefore, I hope there's somethig like rsync -av dir_A dir_B_tmp && \ mv dir_B dir_B.bkup && mv dir_B_tmp dir_B This small script can ensure the minimal change time between 2 versions of archive. Is this built in the native rsync function? Do I have to write scripts m...

increasing significant digits in smooth.spline function
Hello All I have a very long vector of unique predictor values and 6 significant digits setting for the smooth.spline rounds them off. Is there any way of increasing the significant digits withour recompiling a lot if code (simple editing and tham sourcing of "smooth.spline.r" function does not work, probably due to presence of Fortan functional calls)? Thank you very much in advance Sergii R version 2.9.1 (2009-06-26) x86_64-redhat-linux-gnu locale: LC_CTYPE=en_GB.UTF...

randomForest() segfaults under Solaris(SPARC) 2.7
...rashes R with a segmentation fault. This happens on all of our ultraSPARC machines running Solaris 2.7. We're using R-1.4.1, compiled using Sun cc and f77 and the flags: CC=cc CFLAGS="-xO5 -xlibmil -dalign" FC=f77 FFLAGS="-xO5 -xlibmil -dalign" "make check" runs withour errors, and R has been working well for all other applications/installations. Incidentally, randomForest() runs fine on one of our ultraSPARC machines running Solaris 2.6 and R-1.4.1 compiled using the same compilers and flags. It also reportedly works if gcc/g77 are used. Any suggestions apprec...

Errors in Variables
...ror models (errors-in-variables, total least squares, etc.). I have an old reference to a "multi archive" that contains leiv3: Programs for best line fitting with errors in both coordinates. (The date is October 1989, by B.D. Ripley et al.) I have done a search for something similar in R withour success. Has this been implemented in a R-package, possibly under some sort of assumptions about variances. I would lke my student to apply some regression techniques to data that fit this profile. Any help is much appreciated. (If I have not done my search more carefully - my apologies.) Thanks Ja...

IXJ Quicknet PhoneJack issues
...(PIII-600) Linux 2.4.27 with ixj (chan_phone) hardware. In a hope of getting better 'chan_skinny' support (to attempt using a Cisco 7920 IP phone) I built asterisk 1.2.40 on this box. Initial tests verify that our previous dialplan is working (iax2 trunks, register sip phones, registering withour SER box, etc. all work but there is no dialtone on the ixj fxs port. Here is what I tried: (in each case asterisk invoked with '-vvv -C name_of_config_file) 1. temporary fresh install of 1.2.40 using sample configs; in dialplan (uncommented extension ext. 1265); in 'phone.conf' un...

Broadsoft-like BLF List URI ?
...sking the IP phone to reboot, as for a reason I don't know, most phones send BLF-related SUBSCRIBEs during boot time. Is this feature compatible with Asterisk design ? Is there a way to update BLFs without rebooting ? (I could successfully update BLF but I could force the IP phone to subscribe withour rebooting). don't delete existing files...
...me ideas, but i don't like any of them... I know i could avoid using --delete, but would rather not doing it. I could advice users to create files in the directories that will be syncronized.. and even force them to use diferents directories... First, I could syncronized from remote to local (withour --delete) and then from local to remote (with --delete).. but in some cases, that wouldn't be necessary. Moreover, doing this automaticly would be dangerous (and i would like to avoid it). Has anybody had the same problem? How did you solve it? Thanks in advance! Judith

Samba 3.0 and Active Directory Authentication
Hello Samba-ers, Please help. I have a RedHat 9.0 server using Samba 3.0. I have a Windows 2003 machine that is an applications server with Active Directory (AD) configured. Two problems that are making my life hell: (1) I wish to Authenticate into the AD once and use the Samba shares withour having to log into each share. (2) Use the shares from the server without alot of "logging in" hassles. I need the security that AD offers. Currently, I have to log into the AD and when I want to use a share I have to login to the share via Samba too. I understand that you SHOULD be...

Samba Printing Question
.... Each individual machine had Samba shares and printers on it individually. Those file systems and printers were then duplicated on the new server. The version of Samba was the same (samba-1.9.18p7) on the previous machines. Prior to our cut-over, all users were able to print to the Samba printers withour ever entering a password for the resource. Now all machines NT/95/98, require the user to enter their NIS password before using the printing resource every time! This gets the users a bit annoyed when they have a number of print jobs to send. So in order to get our users a work around, I had them m...

[PATCH][RESEND] xm reboot for vmx domain
This patch fixes the bug that "xm reboot <domid>" can not reboot vmx domain. In xm reboot process, control panel will wait until DomU notified it. Unlike DomU, vmx domain can not passively do that, since it runs unmodified OS. This patch adds the missing logic in control panel. Any comment? Signed-off-by: Xu Dan <dan.d.xu@intel.com > Yu Ke
