WinSCP error while connecting to root
Hi folks,
I tried to use WinSCP (http://winscp.vse.cz/eng/) for a ftp like scp-GUI for Windows in order to connect to a HP-UX machine running 11.0 and openssh-2.5.1p2. The problem is that I can connect to any user I want _except_ root! When I connect to root, then the command "echo $status" (this is the way how WinSCP d...

Could you please elaborate on "broken"? Which version of PuTTY? (I'm not
familiar with WinSCP versions but I believe the code is based on PuTTY, so
I think if we figure out PuTTY then the same will probably apply to WinSCP).
Could you please run sshd and plink in...

Problem copying directories using sftp
Hello!
A couple of days ago I submitted the problem report shown below to the
support forum for WinSCP.
I got a reply (shown at the end of this e-mail) saying that this in part
was a WinSCP problem, but also that there appeared to be something wrong
with the replies from OpenSSH-3.9p1 under AIX 4.3.3.
The full dialog including the reply can be seen at

Putty X11 problem
I use WinSCP to connect to remote server with wine. I use Putty as a terminal, but it seems, I cannot use X11 tunneling to run graphical applicatoins from this remote server, although X11 is enabled in Putty. Is there a solution for that?

access to file system through web browser
Hi.
I am trying to find "something" (php prefered) that I can stick onto a
Centos apache server that would allow me to browse a selected file system
by employees through a web-browser "explorer like" interface.
I know I can do this through WinSCP (and have done so), but my problem is I have
Linux, Windows and MAC clients and my knowledge of MAC's is rather limited.
I can limit access to the (php) files to (ranges of) IP addresses, so security
is reasonable ok and doing this through a web interface saves me time, too, as
I only have to...

FW: Getting PHP Config to work?
Hi,
I have been doing various testing with asterisk and its been going great.
However I am a bit feedup of using vi for editing configs, and would rather
do it from any machine on my LAN. I am running debian and * via xorcom rapid
on a test PC at the minute.
Hence phpconfig would be great, however I am having difficulty getting it to
work. I have searched the message boards and the wiki, and

CentOS 7 autofs flakyness
I have a user who couldn't get in via WinSCP to a server. Got him to log
in via putty, and that was fine. But he still couldn't get in the other
way. At my manager's suggestion, I restarted autofs... and everything
worked.
Note that his home director5y was already automounted via NFS, after he
logged in via putty. We've seen othe...

Permission question
Hello,
We own a CentOS Server which hosts a few domains using Cpanel, however
each host or domain has its own user and its own folder under /home,
we want a separate user(newuser1) to have read and write privileges in
all home's subdirectories so we can do some tasks remotely using
WinSCP, that user is already in the sudoers group and the root login
is disabled in SSH for security, but I haven't been able to assign the
correct privileges and rights to newuser1 using chmod -R
owneruser:newuser1 /home/owneruserdir, everytime we login with
newuser1 using WinSCP to /home and try to...

Slow Samba
Hello friends,
I have a Gigabit network with few Windows and Centos 7 machines and I
noticed that when copying files via Samba from:
Windows to Windows I can copy files with speed of +- 120 MBps (I think this
is the max speed gigabit network can provide)
But when copying files from:
Centos to Centos I get only speeds of about 40 MBps
Windows to Centos 40 MBps
Centos to Windows 40 MBps

Batch mode creates huge diffs, bug(s)?
...v.28, partimage ??, rsync 3.0.6
Hardware: Running as VM in ESXi 4.1 U2, 4 x vCPU and 16 GB RAM, 200 GB disk
(150+ GB free)
My testing process:
1. Use FOG .28 / partimage to capture an image of and already configured
Windows XP workstation
2. Log in to workstation as normal user, download WinSCP (2.9 MB file),
shut down machine gracefully
3. Use FOG .28/partimage / to capture the same system again, to a new
image file.
4. FOG uses gzip to compress the partimage file, and we need to compare
uncompressed images

that the script has some command injection vulnerability.

mount sftp or ftp+ssl drive on windows
Hello guys,
I would like to mount a sftp or a ftp with ssl (vsftp with ssl) on to a
Windows machine as an X: drive. So far I found SftpDrive witch costs
only $39 :) and I don't want it.
Do any of you have a positive experience with something like this?
I need it cause I will install a very important software on that drive,
witch doesn't need to be on the local disk of the windows

Tmp directory and sticky
...not a sticky
B- still executable
I went and changed etc/fstab to add loop, noexec, nosuid,rw, which I hope is
the right thing to do.
I rebooted and it looks like it worked.
When doing an ls -l on the main directory, the tmp folder lit up all green
in putty (cool, I hope)
But the chmods I did with winscp will not take effect (they do on other
directories) so I manually ran chmod 1777 on the tmp folder.
Since centos seems to be pretty good at pre configuration, I am concerned
that maybe I should not do this, but every security book says to do it.
I am imagining I will be okay, and I hope if it is...
