Two Versions Possible?
Hi,
Does anyone know the specifics of running two versions of WINE?
I have an old WinBlows app that will work only with the 20010216
version, but some of my other apps do run better with the latest
version of WINE. Would I be able to stick the old version somewhere
in my directory hierarchy and still have a newer version for my
newer apps? I suspect that the development folks do something

How to specify a working directory for an app
Hi,
I have a game that I want to run multiple instances of. This game creates a mutex to prevent this. That kind of limits my options on getting this to work. I also want to run it in a virtual desktop, side-by-side.
So I copied my .wine directory to .wine2. I created a launcher for the game with the command:
Code:
env WINEPREFIX="/home/username/.wine2" wine "/home/username/Desktop/gamefolder/game.exe"
And this works until the game needs to use a file in its directory. At that point I get a "umm this file isn't here&qu...

Winetricks and Multiple Wine Processes
...asked before but my search returned no hits so...
I have several Wine process, mainly because some software I use requires Win components or registry entries that screw up other applications. I run these apps alone in dedicated Wine processes. For example, I have the folllwing:
.wine
.wine-lotro
.wine2
.wine3
Is there any way to tell winetricks which process to use when installing components? I can't find information on how to do it anywhere.
Right now
Thanks in advance.

Wine-devel@winehq.com mailing list working?
My mail to the mailing list seems to be rejected by a completely
different site.
I also seem not to be receiving anything like the normal traffic, and
I just went and looked in the archive and there seems to have been
only two messages posted all day.
Is is working?

2 versions of wine in the same PC ?
...very simple workaround, but I would like to see if it is still present in Wine 1.3 beta.
Is it possible to have 2 versions of Wine simultaneously installed on the same system, or will they disturb each other ?
Of course wine uses a .wine directory, but is there a trick, such as using .wine1 and .wine2 ??

Dawn of War trouble and other questions
Hi:
I'm a relative noob to Wine, and I'm having a little trouble getting Dawn of War (regular, plus Winter Assault) to run under Debian Lenny. When I try to install it, it always tries to install automatically to the c: drive, which I don't want to do because I don't have enough space (running on a laptop).
I do, however, have a USB external drive, which I'd like it to load

Wine taking unacceptably long to start up (Fedora 14 x86_64)
Whenever I run any application with wine it takes upwards of five minutes to start, even apps included with wine like wine cmd. I have been googling this for hours and cannot find anything really applicable to my situation.
I am running Fedora 14 x86_64.
I don't have a network printer.
As far as I am aware fc-cache-32 doesn't exist on Fedora.
I am trying to get some other program to

Current state of MS Office 2003?
I installed Office 2003 in Wine without any winetricks or native DLLs.
Excel works great, Word crashes a lot and can't save.
What's the current best attempt to get Word 2003 to work in Wine? I
see the AppDB shows no ideas on getting it working ...
It's supported in CrossOver, so it should be possible in winehq Wine!
Has anyone got Word working?

Here it is running in full, the reported FPS is more realistic:

Why would the internal framerate of the program be so high, yet look so low?

Can't list directory on ftp.winehq.com
Hi,
after opening the AUTH port in my ipchains filter, I still can't get directory

Google shows there was a bug in the ProFTPD 1.2.0pre10 which is used on
ftp.winehq.com:

Forte Agent Socket Problems
Hi All,
I'm a newbie to WINE, and for my first application I'm trying to set
up Forte Agent RedHat Linux (Roswell). I can run it fine (well, there
is a constant flow of error messages on my console, but the program
window still looks allright). But I can't connect to the internet.
This is the message I keep getting:

Multiple Instances of Diablo 2
Hi all,
I'm currently trying to run multiple Diablo 2 Windows with 1 user.
Thats what i managed to do until now:
if I use export WINEPREFIX=~/.wine2 and then run a copied d2, it works to join bnet twice, but when both are in the same game, 1 will get a Timeout.
So i tried to find a sloution (and found one):
I made another user (called "d21") and installed D2 into his personal .wine folder.
Now when I can have both accounts in the sam...

wine-20011004 Problems
I'm having major problems with the 10/4 Wine release. Currently the only
thing I really use Wine for is Eudora Light 3.0.5. The most stable
release for me thus far has been wine-20010112, which is what I'm using
right now. Most of the releases since then have had window problems with
Eudora-- messages having too much blank space, strange things.
So I tried 1004, and it has a new
