Samba4 server is not accessible for logon from Windows 2008R2 SP1.
There is Samba4 4.7.2 acting as standalone server on Ubuntu 14.04.x64. Also there is Windwos 2008R2 SP1 acting as DC in the same network. And also Windows XP/7 are in this network. Logon to Samba4 is accessible from Windows XP and Windowx 7 but not accessible from Windos 2008R2. As logon to Windows clients is accessible from Windows 2008R2. Username and password is asked by Samba and provided from Windows 2008R2 during logon to Samba4 server but it asks username/password again and again and not accept provided one. That is logon is...

Wine broken on Samba shares due to colon ":" filenames
...c: lrwxrwxrwx 1 rwsmith rwsmith 1 2009-06-20 12:09 z: When I do the ls -l on the Samba server I get: lrwxrwxrwx 1 rwsmith rwsmith 10 2009-06-20 12:09 c: -> ../drive_c lrwxrwxrwx 1 rwsmith rwsmith 1 2009-06-20 12:09 z: -> / I know that the colon ":" character is illegal for DOS/Windowx clients but why it is illegal for Samba/CIFS? Is there any way to work around this issue? I have set "mangled names = no" for the [homes] share on the Samba server but this did not help. The only other parameters in Samba that I think might be involved are: [Global] dos charset = uni...

Need Help Getting Windows XP To Use Samba Properly
Hi everyone, new to the list. My apologies if this issue has already been covered, but I am having the following problem with Samba: Using Windows XP as a client, I am trying to see a Solaris system as a server. Solaris is running Samba 2.4.2, and Windows 2000 sees it as a server without any problems. Windows XP, however, generates the error "The network name is no longer
