How do I set $WINBINDD_DOMAIN
Hi!
How/where do I set this environment variable? I want to limit this because
now it searches through all the thrusts, and this takes ages for every
request.
Running SAMBA 2.2.5 on IRIX_6.5.16m.
Kind regards,

winbindd panic daemon dies
Hi All,
can anyone make any sense of the error below, please advise if I need to log this as a bug but I'm not sure how to further diagnose what is happening. This is from my winbindd log file,
thanks Andy.

Default domain for winbindd?
...However, I have to give a fully-qualified username (e.g. "GENEEDINC+chris.palmer") as the username when logging in via these methods. I wondered, Is there any way to get winbindd to insert the domain and the separator for the user, when none is provided?
I checked winbindd(8). There is $WINBINDD_DOMAIN, but my expectations about what it provides appear to be wrong -- it's a security restriction and not a user-friendly helper.

samba appliance issues
...the really BIG problem: can't get samba to recognize my login
from another NT box. I have shares set up as shown in my attached
smb.conf. I set up the share so that my UID owns the directory and all
files in it, and yet I cannot attach to the share.
And other misc questions:
1.) How does the $WINBINDD_DOMAIN variable work? Is it a system wide
config setting that takes effect when you start winbindd, or is it
per-process that uses winbindd?
2.) I had some real problems trying to join the machine to the domain
with "password server = *" in smb.conf. I had to manually point the

Winbind and trusted domains
Does Samba has a problem working with trusted domains ?
I have two trusted domains and a Samba server 2.2.2 configured with winbind
running on RH 7.0, after working for a week its now only showing me the
remote domain groups and not the local domain groups.
The remote domain is called Sxxx and the local one Txxxx, does samba
consider an alphabetical order or somethig like that when working with
