Viewport size Q for those with a widescreen Mac.
At the moment I''m short of access to a widescreen Mac. I''m trying to find out what the pixel size of the viewport is on Safari when you have it maximised with tabbed browsing and the standard set of buttons, menus and toolbars in place. I''ve done the same exercise on Firefox and IE7 on Ubuntu Linux and Windows, and for a nominal 1280x800 widescreen display you get a

Problem with widescreen display
I have a dual boot CentOS 5.2 / FC4 machine, and recently I have bought a new widescreen tft monitor. I used to use a plain 4:3 crt, and after plugging the 16:9 tft naturally X needed reconfiguring. This was easy in FC4, and seemed as easy in CentOS, but with a wrong result. Basically, what I did was to run system-config-display to reconfigure for the new monitor and resolution. All goes

Problems with widescreen (16:9) under CentOS 5 w/ xorg-x11-drv-i810-1.6.5-9.40.el5
I am the tech guy for a local library. We have a network containing several diskless workstations. The hardware are these P4 boxes: http://www.geeks.com/details.asp?invtid=SAMBA845V-24-4-R&cat=SYS (We have inserted additional memory, bringing most of the machines up to 1.25Gig of memory, and two up to 2Gig of memory.) These little machines have integrated Intel video chips on their

get widescreen 1280x800 for intel 965GM chipset
Dear All, I come from FreeBSD world. This is my first time setting up a CentOS on my laptop Dell Vostro 1400 with intel 965GM chipset. I am having problem here and need your help. I have 5.1 release installed. I have trouble to get 1280x800 resolution. The driver used is I810. I don't know if the chipset is too new for the xorg driver, and can anyone tell me if there is a fix, maybe with

Widescreen monitor with Intel G965 graphics chipset
I just migrated my working Fedora Core 8 desktop to CentOS 5.1 and went from my nice 1680x1050 resolution to 1280x1024. I have made all the possible xorg.conf changes I found on the net to no avail. I tried system-config-display ?reconfig and it allows me to pick the resolution but reverts back to 1280x1024 in X? Anyone know what might need to be done in CentOS for this to work? The skewed aspect

Widescreen monitor won't configure to a wide screen
I just put a 1680x1050 LCD monitor on my home system, and I went into system-config-display to configure it as such, and it just won't take. I had to tweak some of the settings by hand, but when I log out, I get the wide screen for both the Nvidia driver splash screen and the login screen. But, when I log in, It jumps back to 1280x1024 and refuses to run in wide screen mode. Here's the

No 3D in KDE, other effects work
In Ubuntu 7.10 with KDE, I have compiz running under XGL. Although Beryl ran fine in Ubuntu 7.04, Compiz will not enable 3D effects such as wobbly windows. Other effects, such as minimize/restore animations, work properly. The machine is a Dell Inspiron 6400 / E1505 laptop, 2Ghz Intel DuoCore2, 2GB RAM, ATI X1400, 1680x1050 widescreen. What should I begin to troubleshoot? Thanks in advance.

Gnome dark panels
I think of a layout like in the centos wiki: https://wiki.centos.org/Screenshots?action=AttachFile&do=get&target=screenshot-c7-widescreen.png With panels I mean the lines on top and bottom of a desktop. Screen Resolution issues
Hi. I'm having a rather peculiar problem; when running any fullscreen game that has been set to a smaller resolution than the one I'm using (1680x1050, I have a widescreen monitor), moving my mouse to the edges of the screen kind of shifts the view. For example, I have Warcraft III running at 1280x960, I move my mouse to the right edge of the screen, and then the view moves along with

Suggestions for Theora
Hi, I have some suggestions for Theora:1) Theora should have a feature like adobe flash does that enables direct end user to end user peering which decreases a server's bandwidth usage and cost. Read here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Real_Time_Media_Flow_Protocol Theora should go one step further and support file sharing. 2) Theora should have a plugin for the safari web browser that runs

5.x install - loses display when launching anaconda
Hi all, Trying to install 5.0 or 5.1 (i386 or x86_64) on a new system from an install DVD. As soon as the installer launches anaconda, the screen shuts off and from this point I'm unable to switch to any other tty. This is an Intel core2duo machine on an Intel P35 chipset motherboard, Geforce 8400GS video card connected to a BenQ 20" widescreen LCD. Any ideas what could cause

CentOS 5.2 nVidia GeForce 7300GS resolution problem
I have a Gigabyte nVidia GeForce 7300GS on an Intel DG965WHMKR mobo attached to an LG Flatron LG204WT widescreen monitor. I'm driving the monitor at 1680*1050, and the picture is compressed into the right-hand two-thirds of the screen. The monitor is OK as it's attached via a KVM switch to another machine - also with an nVidia card - and it displays perfectly on that. It looks like some

Wine and multiple X screens at different resolutions
Hello! I am a great fan of wine, and find it gets better every day. However, there is one problem that is almost make or break for me that I wonder is something just on my end or a genuine bug. I represent a small subset of wine users: those who have two LCD screens at different aspect ratios. I have a 20 inch 4:3 LCD at 1280x1024 and a 22 widescreen LCD at 1680x1050. Through Nvidia's control

Wine desktop emulation
Hi, if you don't like to read the reason of the question, skip the blue part ;) i usually like to play older games with wine, and many of them are restricted to a screen resolution of SVGA or XGA ect. This looks of course incredibly bad on a Full HD Widescreen. Some of these games offer parameters or modes to play them in windowed mode (DiabloII, ...), some of them do only support the
