Log rotation and combining...
So, the question is, why can I rotate the log manually, but cron returns a permission error? Do I need to tell cron to run it as sudo or something like that? Logstash pattern (GROK, KV, ...) to parse dovecot logs anyone?
...; extracts the key->value pairs but not other parts of the log lines. One finds the occasional attempt here and there on GitHub, like https://github.com/PCextreme/logstash-grok-patterns/blob/master/mail . But nothing in comparison to the simply amazingly good patterns there are for Postfix from whyscream (https://github.com/whyscream/postfix-grok-patterns). He even added some "I don't understand this yet" rule to learn where the parsing lags. I was wondering if anyone here is running logstash and does already have a set of GROK or KV configuration and is willing to share that with th...

release plan for dovecot antispam plugin?
Hi, I noticed that someone took over the development of the dovecot antispam plugin, and the is currently hosted at dovecots hg repo. Great to see that the plugin is not dead! ;) I created a gentoo ebuild that builds the plugin from the repo, and the plugin seems to work nice with dspam (using mailtrain backend). I'm running a checkout from Tue Sep 21 16:14:48 2010. However, it is lacking a

That doesn?t seem to work either. Where do I find logs for log rotation to see the reason it failed? Moving email between folders outside of IMAP context
I'd like to run a script from cron that will scan certain mailboxes and move selected mail from one folder (usually INBOX) to another folder. The basic idea is to move previously detected spam based on headers prepended to the mail. Since I am not able to figure out how to get Postfix to invoke deliver with the -m option in these cases, and not in others, this is one idea I have come up with

Imap Folder activity detect
Hi all, We are migrating a mail service with 80.000 users, and 40.000 of them are using IMAP. At present, this service is handled by Courier, with some custom patches. And we are migrating to Dovecot 1.2.15. One of these patches is used to interact with Spamassassin. If Courier detects any move/copy operation to the "IsSPAM" or "IsntSPAM" folders, a specific bash script is

Evolution and Thunderbird do different things?
I'm trying both Evolution and Thunderbird on my IMAP server, and find that there are differences in how some things are done, between clients. Shouldn't there have been a standard way to do these things in the IMAP protocol? The first thing I noticed is that when deleting email from one client, it puts a "T" on the file name, leaving it where it is, and from the other client,

Different realm for different listeners?
I see this has been asked a few times over the years (but not in several years), and the response was along the lines of "maybe someday", so I figured I'd see if someday was here yet... I have a need to have a different default realm for different listeners. Basically, I've a bunch of different domains, and a few of them insist their users not be required to authenticate with

I can send mails to this address and read them with my Horde webmail. DKIM fail if WHM adds Message-ID, should be Message-Id
I created a client library to send emails for a webapp. After connecting to the SMTP server with credential setup in CPANEL, and then do NOT add Message-Id header, the DKIM signature 'h' record created by dovecot/WHM is wrong, and a Message-ID (with a capital D) header is added, invalidating the generated DKIM signature value. This causes outlook, yahoo, gmail and other email
