icecast2 transcode?
I've got a dilema. For months, I've been planning and implementing
a large project involving vorbis, ices2, icecast2 and wifi networking.
The plan is to stream live audio from 10 Austin nightclubs during
the SXSW music festival this March.
Well yesterday, it was made plain to me that I must also provide mp3
streams, since "it's an mp3 world."
I'm upset about this

Accessing SIP username from AGI script
Hi,
I'm writing an AGI script to manage outgoing calls. We need to
interrogate a database to work out which line a particular user is
allowed to use for outgoing calls. However, I cannot find a way for
my AGI script to access the SIP username. Does anyone know if this is
possible (even if it is just passing a variable from extensions.conf
to the script)?
Thanks in advance,

in-memory test database -- where''s the schema?
I''m trying to get the unit testing for a new project to use the wonderful
:memory: database specification for SQLite. However, like many people
before me, I can''t get the schema to import or have anything else useful.
Initially, the error I get is:
/usr/lib/ruby/gems/1.8/gems/sqlite3-ruby-1.1.0/lib/sqlite3/errors.rb:94:in

Custom functions and facts
Hello!
I''ve been trying to use facts from Facter in a custom function. I''ve
been following Matthew''s entry in the wiki
(http://www.reductivelabs.com/trac/puppet/wiki/WritingYourOwnFunctions).
What i''m seeing is that Facter[''fqdn''].value is always returning the
fqdn of the puppetmaster host. I was expecting the fqdn of the client
host.

exclude hidden files
I want to exclude from the sync ALL files that start with a dot, IOW hidden files. But using --exclude '.*' does funny things with directories (or at least I think it does). Is there a recognised correct way to do this?
I thought --exclude '.???*' would avoid the directory issue by only excluding any dot file(dir) with a name longer than 2 characters. Not tried it yet, but would

Samba as NAS (Serving Win+Linux)
I am in the process of setting up a file server to serve both
Linux+Windows boxes (Users Maildirs(qmail), WebSites(With quotas),
etc..)
Is there any reasons one would not just run Samba? (Probably get a
biased opinion on this list!) - I have never used NFS, but have been
told it was "a total bandwidth whore"..
Would also appreciate anyones experiences(Difficulty in setting up,

Experiment in Online Mongrel Chat Support
Hi Folks,
I was playing with Lingr today (http://www.lingr.com) and kind of like
it, so I thought I''d setup a little room and see how it works for
answering Mongrel questions.
http://www.lingr.com/room/3yXhqKbfPy8
I''ll be hanging there for a while and we''ll see how it works out. If it
works well, and doesn''t turn into a nastier-than-IRC situation then I

NYC Ruby Job Fair ‹ April 25th
=== NYC Ruby Job Fair -- April 25th
The NYC Ruby meetings lately have looked a lot like middle school dances.
On one side of the room is people saying, "Gee, I wish I could work
full-time doing Ruby or Ruby on Rails." On the other side of the room are
companies saying, "Wow, those Ruby people sure look cute, I wish they would
all come work for me." The music is playing, the

MongrelDay Documentation -- Memoirs Of A Web Server
Happy RailsDay!
While everyone else was out having fun with RailsDay I spent my time
wisely and wrote up tons of documentation for Mongrel and cleaned out
some of the docs I''ll never write anyway. I also took the time to apply
some nice patches from Jonas Pfenniger for easily setting up redirects
in Mongrel.
Some of the highlighted documents people will be interested in are:

Virtual resource not found
Hi All,
I asked on IRC but didn''t have everything organized and most people
seemed busy. Hoping someone can see what I''m missing here.
I''m trying to create a network module, used similar to the ''users''
configuration described in the Best Practices document. I have a users
module which has that and it works with similar syntax to below. If I
