Is = now the same as <- in assigning values
...PhD student at the University of Warsaw, and have started using R.
In many books they specify to use <- instead of = when assigning
values, and this is also mentioned in older posts on the R website.
However, it seams to me that some update has occured, becuase I
continously get the same result wether I use <- or =.
I would be extremely helpful for any answer to this.
= seams more intuitive, so I assumed that an update had been made due
to popular demand and that was why I get the same output wether I use
<- or =.

problem with checking wether file is present or not
Hi all,
I have a problem with checking File is present in the directory or not
like
I have a sequence of files in one folder I have to take each file in order
and have to caliculate on those files data but in order some files are
missing for that I have to check and load those files for that I am using
condition like
if(file.exists(findings)==TRUE){}
its giving results for files which are

binning a vector
Hello,
I was wondering wether there's a function in R that takes two vectors (of same length) as input and computes mean values for bins (intervals) or even a sliding window over these vectros.
I've several x/y data set (input/response) that I'd like plot together. Say the x-data for one data set goes from -5 to 14...

[LLVMdev] Thanks for llvm!
...and was a bit sad that the gnu-world relies(d) on
techniques which have more or less reached their possibilities.
Although I would call myself an end-user developer, its great to see
people working on such cool stuff :-)

PS: One things about which I was not able to find information is
wether llvm is also able to do optimistic compilation/decompilation
and wether its able to optimize virtual method calls.

Question about -b mode of sftp(1) and auto-chdir behaviour
Hello,
i'm curious to know wether the automatic chdir behaviour of sftp(1)
in batch mode is a side-effect of the current implementation, or
if it's instead a regular feature. And, if it's indeed the latter,
wether there is any compatibility problem if one would actually
rely on it?
I'll attach a copy+paste diff to docu...

Regularized gamma function/ incomplete gamma function
...he
Incomplete gamma function by the gamma function), does anyone know of a package in R that would evaluate the derivative of the inverse of Reg with respect to k? I am aware that the function "Rgamma.inv" of the package "Zipfr" evaluates the inverse
of Reg and I'm wondering wether there is a function that would evaluate the derivative of the inverse..
Alternatively, a good numerical integration package/ or simply a function that could evaluate the integral int_0^r (log(x) x^(k-1) e^(-x))dx; 0<r<Inf
would be useful. I tried the function "int" of the package...

Multiple TDM400P's in a single machine
Hi All,
Can someone give me a definite answer as to wether or not you can
reliably run multiple TDM400P's in the same machine?
I need 4 x FXO and 4 x FXS to connect to both the PSTN and existing key
system, but I have seen several threads suggesting that this is not a
supported configuration
Thanks,
Marc.

Positive Definite Matrix
Hello I am trying to determine wether a given matrix is symmetric and
positive matrix. The matrix has real valued elements.
I have been reading about the cholesky method and another method is to find
the eigenvalues. I cant understand how to implement either of the two. Can
someone point me to the right direction. I have used ?chol to...

Certificate system
Hi all,
Can anybody inform me wether the "RedHat Certificate System" or
actually a CentOS equivalent is available for CentOS.
Just skimmed on a download site through the RPM's for 5.3 and I couldn't
find it.
According to their pressrelease, it the code should be gpl, allthough I
can't find any rpm for RH, FC or...

This occur only when aarch64 is used, not with arm and x86.

[LLVMdev] llvm-dwarfdump and eh_frame
Hi,
I noticed that llvm-dwarfdump does not show any information about the eh_frame section. While DWARFContext::getDebugAranges explicitly tries to parse it, it fails because the DWARFContextInMemory constructor does not check for that specific section name. A fix would be to check wether the name is "debug_frame" or "eh_frame". If this is correct, should I submit a smallish patch, or could somebody else fix it, or can I just commit the change to svn?

best practice: raise an exception or return false
just wondering how others deal with invalid/illegal operations on their
models?
until now, I''ve simply been returning true or false depending on wether or
not the operation succeeded, but that doesn''t tell the calling function why
the operation failed (if it failed).
I could use custom exceptions, but is it good practice to raise an exception
on every invalid action or just the more serious ones? where''s the best

I have been chocked just when I saw some posts talking
about how much the IAXy is bad :) -
So I would like to ask, did any one try it later and
wether it is good or not? I am asking this because I
need to use it as it is NAT Transparent (as I read
also, and I did not try it to see how much it is
transparent).
What about codec? Why it is only support g711 and does
not support compressed codec? And what about the IP

Firefox as the standard browser
Hi Folks,
I use WINE 1.1.8 from the actual repository under Ubuntu 8.10, Intrepid Ibex.
Freshly installed, I set up Firefox and got it running. It was asking wether I want it to be the standard browser and I agreed. Unfortunately it doesn't seem to register itself in this way. It is asking again and again when I restart it.
The problem is, that I want to use an application which calls URLs to display its content and fails to start anything (I assume the u...

Polycom 430 , 501 and 550
Hi List;
Can someone advise me if Polycom support H323 that
work fine with Asterisk? And wether this H323 Polcyom
devices more costly than SIP Polycom.
Also, I am not able to know if new Polycom come with
PoE adaptor so no need for PoE Switch (can use normal
switch that does not support PoE)? Do I need any
special cable for Polycom or normal Ethernet cable?

[LLVMdev] Passes propose passes
...all that can be
invoked from a Pass?
So my suggestion to implement in LLVM is:
- Detect where exactly constants are inserted
- Detect which pass is responsible to continue folding it
- Insert that pass if allowed and if it is not in the queue by a
ProposePass function
ProposePass should decide wether it's worth to further constant fold the
block by running the proposed pass. Once accepted, the pass should be
inserted into the pass queue at a position where it is most effective.
What do you think about that idea? How much would be the effort of
implementing it? Does it fit the layering desi...
