Important feature missing: Floppy booting from 2 disks
...ong, please flame ahead. I can't really understand why this option is missing, this seems such a fundamental issue to me. [Note: with the new syslinux compilable under linux, I might be able to help myself, when I'm going to setup my next install images] Best Regards, Michael. -- Michael Weller: eowmob at exp-math.uni-essen.de, eowmob at ms.exp-math.uni-essen.de, or even mat42b at spi.power.uni-essen.de. Rcmdr window border lost
...d wonder whether anyone else has seen it. As well, setting options(Rmcdr=list(suppress.X11.warnings=TRUE)) should suppress the X11 warnings that appear on some systems, but I thought that this problem disappeared with R 2.4.0. ''lowest common denominator'' cpuid feature set
I want to be able to test live migration... I have an intel box and an amd box, so live migration between them won''t ''just work''. From what I''ve read though, I should be able to use cpuid to turn off all the cpu features which might be different between them. Is this do-able? I''m willing to accept any resulting loss of performance etc. James

Closed-source non-free ParallelR ?

The randomForest and snow libraries GPL licensed, whereas the other libraries we include have a commercial license(including 'foreach' and 'iterators'). Stephen Weller revolution > I wanted to expand on Stephen's reply. ParallelR is a suite of R packages, and it is well established that packages can be under a difference license than R itself (i.e. not the GPL). For example, package MCE is licensed under BSD, RColorBrewer is licensed under Apache, most of...

I can't find any options in the storage xml documentation so my guess would be no. Kind regards, Lennart Weller

R GUI in Ubuntu Feisty?
Dear all, After an update from Ubuntu Edgy to Feisty, I seem to have lost package JGR()!? I have updated my sources.list to point to the Feisty repos at http://cran.ch.r-project.org/ and re-installed JGR() via: $ sudo rm -rf /usr/local/lib/R/site-packages/* $ sudo R CMD javareconf $ sudo R > install.packages("JGR",dep=TRUE) > library(JGR) > JGR() However, I get the

(Heuristic?) salient feature selection
Dear all, I am new to R and statistics really in general. I am hoping that someone will be able to point me in the right direction and/or suggest a technique/package/reference that will help me with the following. I have: Some input variables (integers, real) Some output variables (integers, real) and I want to find out which between the two correlate best - i.e. the salient features. I

Is there a non-parametric repeated-measures Anova in R ?
Hello Prof. Harrell and dear R-help mailing list, I wish to perform a non-parametric repeated measures anova. If what I read online is true, this could be achieved using a mixed Ordinal Regression model (a.k.a: Proportional Odds Model). I found two packages that seems relevant, but couldn't find any vignette on the subject: http://cran.r-project.org/web/packages/repolr/

Multiple ecdf plots?
I have a csv file that has approximately 50k rows. In the first value of each row, a file name is listed, and there are 162 different file names. At the end of each row, there is a number value. What I would like to be able to do is for the 162 different files (or we could call them categories), is compute the ecdf for the values within that category. Then plot the ecdf for each file on the

printing via samba w/ cups server
Hi, I have a bizarre printing problem, and i think i've narrowed it down to either samba, or the way windows packages the file to be printed. I've recently implemented a new server. Users print through the linux server from their windows desktop machines. OLD server: -samba 2.0.7, which uses lpd NEW server: -samba 2.2.3, which uses cups The old server can print to the printer (Savin

R GUI in Ubuntu?
Dear all, I am very new to R and find the terminal-based UI a little daunting. (That's probably the wrong thing to say!) Having searched the Packages it seems that I can have either a Gnome-based or Java-based GUI for my Ubuntu machine. However, I can get neither to work. Having run R as root, I then run the following command: install.packages("gnomeGUI", dependencies=TRUE) The

Speed up computing: looping through data?
Dear all, Please excuse my ignorance, but I am having difficulty with this, and am unable to find help on the website/Google. I have a series of explanatory variables that I am aiming to get parsimony out of. For example, if I have 10 variables, a-j, I am initially looking at the linear relationships amongst them: my.lm1 <- lm(a ~ b+c+d+e+f+g+h+i+j, data=my.data) summary(my.lm1) my.lm2

[Patch] Allow for more than one recipient_delimiter (a la postfix 2.11)
Hey everyone, as my previous emails apparently got stuck in a spam filter I'll try this again. The patches attached here allow for more than one recipient delimiter in the address. Which is allowed in postfix since version 2.11. E.g. lhw+postfix at ring0.de would be equal to lhw-postfix at ring0.de if configured that way. Same as postfix only the first discovered delimiter is taken into

Analyzing texts with tm
Hey everybody! I have to use R's tm package to do some text analysis, first thing would be to create a term frequency matrix. Digging in tm's source code it seems like it uses some logic like this to create term frequencies: data("crude") (txt <- Content(crude[[1]])) (tokTxt <- unlist(strsplit(gsub("[^[:alnum:]]+", " ", txt), " ", fixed =
