Strange behaviour of winbind on solaris 8
Dear All,
I came across a really strange behaviour when using winbind on solaris 8.
Normally "nscd" should be turned off because it's causing problems in the
username resolution etc. When I turn it off I can login e.g. using ssh as an
AD users but when i start a command like "ls" it gets put in the background
immediately? When "nscd" is turn on and login again I

wbinfo -g gives no output , ndr_pull_error

after upgrade Samba from 3.4.3 to 3.5.4 "wbinfo -g" gives no output.

Map ports
Hi,
I have two internal server who has a service at port X.
I need to put both services public in Internet and I have a unique public IP.
Can I do something like that with shorewall:
Ip public port X mapped to port X of the first server
Ip public port Y mapped to port Y of the second server?

samba 3.4 and 3.5 bug or misconfig: why is idmap uid and idmap gid needed for an AD only idmap config?
...map default tdb backend is trying to map somehow ids to
the groups which do not have gid numbers assigned in AD.
So how can I get rid of this unwanted mappings? Why do they occus

A small question (bandwith monitoring)
Hi,
I''m configured a home router with Shorewall. It took me a while as I''m
quite a newbie to Linux, but now it''s working fine.
I would like to install some bandwith-monitoring so I know how much
traffic is generated.
I found a tool for it called ipac-ng. It uses iptables and here is where

redirect: net to fw
I have router/server that I would like to ssh to from the net. In
order to discourage brute force attacks I would like to redirect all
connections on a non-standard port to port 22 on the router/server.
If notice that setting up a rule
REDIRECT net 22 tcp 4104
causes the firewall to open both ports 4104 and 22 to connections from
the net. Is it possible to only redirect 4104 to the
