It allows one to put data frames (it's the only object I've tried so far) into a very nicely Word formatted table. E.g in its documentation it has this example: wdGet() wdTitle("The example mtcars") wdTable(format(mtcars)) I've used it to get the summary coefficients table from lm() into Word nicely.
