Need script to create new waypoint
...elp-list members,
I am a student at Durham University (UK) conducting a PhD on spatial representation in baboons. Currently, I'm analysing the effect of sampling interval on home range calculations.
I have followed the baboons for 234 days in the field, each day is represented by about 1000 waypoints (x,y coordinates) recorded at irregular time intervals. Consecutive waypoints in this raw data set have an average distance interval of 5 meters an average time interval of 23 seconds (but when baboons were stationary the time interval could be much larger - e.g. waypoint 7 below). This raw data set...

ROXML from_xml not returning an object instance...
Hello,
I have two ActiveRecord classes. One is Route the other is Waypoints.
I have constructed an XML representation so I can use AJAX to create a
Route with all waypoints in a single create call to RouteController.
When I call Route.from_xml(xmlString) it is not returning an object -
it''s leaving the object (@route) nil, but not erroring. Any ideas?

Garmin Trip & Waypoint Manager installer won't run
Hi,
I'm trying to install version 4.0 from the CD that came with my GPS unit. I'm able to run Setup.exe and get to the initial startup menu. The links to visit the Garmin website and exit the installation work fine but when I click the one to install the app I get the hourglass cursor for a fraction of a second, like it's starting to do something, but nothing happens. This is my first

Mappery breakthrough : Garmin topo, vista, rino, under linux & CXO
...bed them, installed them with CXO, opened the Garmin
software, plugged a GPS into a USB port, turned it on, let it boot,
and told the software to go git 'em.
RESULT : We have breakthrough, not victory yet. It got 'em,
but only in part. It only got tracks and maps from a rino 120, and
waypoints from an etrex vista; but it had said, both times, that
either the software or the GPS needed upgrading. They certainly do --
none has had it in years; the software is release 3.0 from 1999, and
release 5.0 is out.
I take this as proof of concept, and more: I can get the
upgrades, and dollars...

Anyone running EasyGPS or ExpertGPS?
With wine-1.1.14-1 under Fedora 10, EasyGPS launches, finds, and
correctly identifies my Garmin GPS (something Garmin's own software under
wine still can't do); and it tries to copy my waypoints. It even claims
success; but then it gives endless pop-ups (277 of them, at a guess --
the number of waypoints it says I have). By the time you close all those,
it crashes; and on re-launch, it has no waypoints.
I'm wondering if the paid version would be any better ...

Salvage old data?
...in Fedora Linux 14.
Once again, my GPSs talk to my software. However, I deleted much of the
old data off the GPSs to make space for new, and have it preserved only
in the old Wine files.
Is there an easy way, (preferably with a web site to walk the
subtechnoid through it!) to copy those old waypoints, routes, tracks, and
even maps into the files of the virtual XP??

OziExplorer works on LINUX using WINE

I started Ozi with: wine --managed oziexp3853c.exe
task WIN95 time WINE time
start pgm 10 sec 80 sec
load chart 6 sec 50 sec

The program will also download waypoints from the GPS, but
this feature did not work under WINE (and did work OK with
WIN95).

One toolbar button not working in Chart Navigator
...ve ole32.dll, oldaut32.dll and rpcrt4.dll as native.
However, I am still having one issue that seems quite strange. All
Chart Navigator functionality seems present except one: routes.
Whether clicking the "Routes" toolbar button or selecting "Routes" from
the menu, no route waypoints can be entered on the chart. Everything
else works - Marks, Text Annotations, etc. The toolbar button itself
highlights and appears selected, and the status line reads "Create a
Route Now by Clicking the Chart," but the app does not go into that
'mode.' The mouse cursor do...

Mappery inquiry
Last time I tried, a few years back, Wine was not yet up to
handling Garmin's proprietary topo map software. It would install, and
sometimes even work, so long as I didn't try to connect a GPS to it. (The
ones I have are all also Garmins -- old ones wanting a serial port.)
I made a huge effort, for most of a year, with a lot of help from
high-powered Alpha Plus Technoids on several

Mappery : uncertain Thinkpads (Repost?)
...Both of them also connect, consistently, to the GPSs from the
PCs.
*Sometimes* they also connect to the GPSs from the laptops -- and
sometimes nothing I can think of makes the transfers work (or the laptops
even see the GPSs, for that matter). (I'm not just misremembering. There
are many waypoints, as well as a few routes and tracks, on the laptops
now, which have to have come from the GPSs.)
The cables I have, bought new from Garmin, all require a serial
port on the computer end. The PCs have such a port, as does the T30; for
the T42 I have something that calls itself a "Cardbus t...

Config and other areas of struggle
I use a few raspberry pi’s and leave the icecast settings as localhost, and run darkice on the same Pi, I have let the router know to pass requests to port 8000 to the IP of the Pi.
Using your external IP is not right, if your server is say 192.168.1.21 thats the port forward, just be sure that the ports you use are in the router too, udp/tcp I use both myself watch for typos.
I think you are

Total Recall. The sea shall see, how all... Marshall.
...ence is "depenedency linked" to the raising of the sunken
city of Atlantis. Even in the words depth and dependency you can see some
hidden meaning, and what that implies to me is that we might actually be in
a true time simulator (or perhaps "exits to reality" are conditional on
waypoints like Atlantis); and that it's possible that they and God and
Heaven are all actually all born ... here ... in this place.
While these might appear like fantastic ideas, you too can see that there's
ample reference to them tucked away in mythology and in our dreams of
utopia and the tools...
