The dnsutils package was missing, added it (typo in a script).
Below is smb.conf, was it perhaps also the reason reversedns didn work
I had not mentioned that earlier, it wasnt something critical we thought.
And i wasnt sure either if thats normal for Samba

source rpms
...nf? Im trying to setup a filtering program "smartfilter" and
they want me to point to the source for squid, which i cant seem to
find. can anyone shed some light on this for me? someone i was
talking to said that centos strips out the source to keep the bulk
down, but i was hoping that wasnt the case.
thanks for any help.

/dev/zap not created
...at I
constantly get the error message:
line 4: Unable to open master device '/dev/zap/ctl'
where the file zaptel.conf contains only 4 files:
fxoks=1
fxsks=4
defaultzone=us
loadzone=us
I cant run asterisk and get a load of error messages.
When I tried to check the directory /dev/zap, it wasnt there. It isnt
created during installation. Can someone help me out.
Apart from that, should I get a dialtone in the fxs module when the
tdm400p is connected in the computer? because I have no way of
checking whether my device is correctly connected.

givenname and email address with smbldap-tools
Hi all,
I have setup samba / openldap as describes by the idealx howto and as
such I am using the smbldap-tools. However, I would like to add the
givenname and email address fields for all users. What is the best way
to do this? I would prefer continuing to use the smbldap-tools, but I
cannot seem to find a good way to do this. When I try to: $
smbldap-usermod -M testuser@testdomain.net

Centos 4 - text based install - LVM ?
Has anyone gotten this to work ?
I can define a raid device but cant put a VG on it. I then tried
'autopartition' and it created an 'LVM' of sorts, when I tried to edit
it I wasnt able to as a message appeared saying, LVM editing was not
allowed in text mode.
Any help ?
Cheers,
Brian.

Source for Kernel
OK, perhaps I wasnt clear in my previous posting.
I am looking for either a SRPM for the CentOS 5.2 centos.plus kernel,
or more likely, a diff from the kernel at kernel.org.
I was pointed to the wiki, which MENTIONED a Source RPM, but didnt
point to anywhere to find these for CentOS. All Ive been able to
find are IS...

WIN2K with SP4 unab;e to save profiles on a Samba PDC
Hi all,
I have been noticing for a certain time that the Win 2K with Service
Pack 4 wasnt able to save its profile to a Samba PDC. Is this a known
fact or I have a problem ?
I am using 3.0.11 on Fedora Core 3.

ARMA.predict?
Hi there,
Does anyone know how to predict ARMA? It doesn?t have either predict or forecast methods. I found couple of packages called fbasic and fseries at http://www.itp.phys.ethz.ch/econophysics/R/, which has ?arma.predict? in it, but it doesn?t seem to be working. Any help in this regard would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

spx1.1.10 speexenc compile
Hi all,
Been trying to compile speex 1.1.10's speexenc for win32 using Visual C++
6.0 but came up with some errors (abt 33 of them, syntax errors). I just
traced them to a variable called "SPEEX_VERSION" which i think isnt defined
in speexenc but rather defined in misc.h, which wasnt one of the include
files in speexenc... should i add a line that includes misc.h in speexenc? i
tried this and got the errors down to 1. the error says that le_int was
declared twice (once in wav_io and another in misc.h) but i dont know which
declaration is correct. Uh.. i really don't know wh...

proportion
...ilized "proportion" to turn values in a
table (from "table") into proportions to then graph. I now get an error
that proportion is not a function so im confused. I ran the script a few
times and im thinking maybe i had another library loaded from a previous
process and that it wasnt listed in my script and now isnt being loaded. So
question is what library do i need to load or what other updates or changes
have been made that now R cant find proportion?
Probably useless with other code/data:

missing dns records? _ldaps._tcp ?
Hai,
Im wondering, im missing the _ldaps._tcp. INTERNAL.DOMAIN.TLD entries in my dns.
Now, before the updates ( badlock ) etc. this wasnt notice i think.
But now since im setting up that everything is doing ldaps i noticed this in my squid setup
( squid mailing subject : [squid-users] ext_kerberos_ldap_group_acl problem )
My question is... did someone resently setup a new AD DC domain and if so does the _ldaps exits? ...

Simple Ruby/Rails question, doing posted hours ago
I am not the Ruby aficionado yet, if I have created_on ...timestamp.
What is a ruby way of getting the hours/minutes/seconds ago. is there
some class that has this implemented.
For example:

negative binomial lmer
...sson but get no P
values. This didnt worry me too much as i think my data is closer to
negative binomial but i cant find any examples of negative binomial lmer. I
tried using the family=negative.binomial(theta=x,link=log) but got an error
message from R saying the function famiily=negative.binomial wasnt
recognised.
Can anyone suggest how to go about setting up the lmer with negative
binomial distribution?
Thanks

Pie Chart in map
...ed that the function is out
of date and would require a great deal of reworking. I also found hexbinpie
on the R graphics gallery that i could incorporate.
Before i go through the process of rewriting or out right creation of a
process to replicate my GIS results i was hoping to make sure there wasnt
something out there i could use to start or use altogether. Or perhaps a
set of functions that already exists that i havent thought to use.
Thanks for the insights everyone.

[LLVMdev] Register design decision for backend
...as i understood or what i tried
to do with my code is to define a register pair composed of two 8 bit
registers the way i described in my previous message. So R1R0 in WDREGS is
directly mapped into R0 and R1 of GPR8. Meaning that 2 GPR8 = 1 WDREG. Also,
R1R0 is the superreg of R1 and R0?
Incase i wasnt clear enough i'll expose a simple example using the common
known x86 arch.
AX is composed by AL and AH (AX and AH are subregs of AX), now assume x86
can only add regs of 8 bits, so if a i16 number is stored in AX it should
get splitted into AL and AH so that the 8 bit addition pattern is matche...

When I try to start notepad, it starts with a grayed title bar,
like it wasnt active. I cant enter text into the input window.
Strange thing, menus work.
To get it look like active and type text, I must select the system menu
and "About wine".
After closing the new window (that has appeared as active), i see that
notepad appears
active and I can enter text.

Moved from Xen 2 to Xen 3... some questions..
...domains anyway.
2. Ive got me a vmx (vanderpool / intel virtualization tech) enabled
processor (as shown in cpuflags in /proc/cpuinfo) - can Xen just use it from
the default build (make world), or do I have to set any flags at compile
time? it didnt winge about missing LibVNCServer, so I assume it wasnt
built... ive looked in the manual, but it doesnt seem to say what I need to
set to build a vmx version.
3. Still relating to VMX - how can I determine if my bios supports VMX? its
a Compaq machine. Does the presence of vmx in /proc/cpuinfo indicate the
bios supports it? there are no options in the...
