Extlinux support makes Fedora's mkinitrd
...ought I'd give a quick shout out across the mailing list that it
looks like Extlinux support got merged into Fedora's mkinitrd, which I
believe is in time for Fedora 11. This apparently isn't my full patch
series (which if anyone cares can be found at:
http://git.kernel.org/?p=boot/warthog9/mkinitrd-syslinux.git;a=summary )
since it's missing the Extlinux menu stuff, but this is a good start
none the less.
If anyone is interested the mkinitrd git tree can be found at
http://git.fedoraproject.org/git/?p=mkinitrd;a=summary

SPF / DNS keys / DMARC are more problem than fix at this point, and I'd
actually recommend not enabling any of them. The best answer is to stop
using a mail provider (yahoo, aol, etc) that has such spectacularly bad
DMARC rules if you are going to do things on mailing lists.

Is There an Alternative to MEMDISK ?
This isn't an esp urgent issue, but I'd like to use a certain RAM diagnostic (Doc Mem) which I've already posted a note about a couple of months ago. Simply won't work booting the floppy disk image via MEMDISK. In the interim, I've tried to resolve this by changing things on my side. I'm pretty sure it's a XMS incompatibility, as it fails differently depending on

git daemon on zytor is back in action
...?
In the case of the official Syslinux wiki, we could manually update
every failing link, but that doesn't help links already posted in prior
emails (e.g. in the Syslinux Mailing List, in bugzilla.syslinux.org
...). And then there are other (external) sites, mailing lists, bug
reports...
@Warthog9, any suggestions?
TIA,
Ady.

John: There are a few popular distros that do permit this. Knoppix and the
ones based on the Linux-Live scripts are ones that I'm most familiar with.
OTOH, mounting an ISO from linuxrc isn't as tough as writing an ISO-compatible
memdisk. It mite take a few days, bu...

sub menus / multiple distros on usb key w/ syslinux
being a complete novice with syslinux, I was hoping someone here could
help me out.
I have a USB Key that I have "broken" into two areas. General storage in
the "back" and space for several live distributions on the front. What I
need to do now is figure out how to make a syslinux.cfg file that would
let me pick which one to boot at startup time.
Basically, I want a menu

PXE Knife Pre-Release
...condary side goal is to use PXE Knife as a spring board and a
complex living example of how to use menu.c32.
At this point we are seeking commentary, suggestions and criticism from
those of you who use and know syslinux so we would appreciate anything
you would like to let us know.

Where to RTFM details of kernel options/parameters.
Newbie question here.
I am doing some work with Bering uClibC and have been wondering about the meaning of the various parameters in the syslinux.cfg file. I have already read the FAQ (http://syslinux.zytor.com/faq.php) which leaves me wondering where to find more information on the 'default' and 'append' parameters. For example, what are all of the kernel and other arguments that

MEMDISK El Torito Emulation
A very special thanks to H. Peter for finding the time to [at least
partially, if not wholly] scrutinize and merge the El Torito emulation
code for MEMDISK!
I'd like to ask that those who've previously used the stale MEMDISK-ISO
switch to this latest[1] MEMDISK proper and report any failures.
Gert, I believe this version addresses the PloP .ISO trouble you
reported. Could you

INCLUDE is broken in pxelinux/menu.c32 3.85
I was trying out the INCLUDE command within menu.c32 (via pxelinux,
actually gpxelinux) and noticed that it's broken. The symptom is that
the text is included, as expected, but the subsequent text from the
including file is wrong. In some cases it actually pulls from above
the INCLUDE leading to the INCLUDE being reprocessed (an infinite
recursion). (The recursion seems to stop after 20-30

sub-menu's
Unless someone already has a snazzy isolinux image that lets you
select multiple makes and models to update bios's that's willing to
share. I was curious if someone could tell me how to go from my
isolinux.cfg into sub menu categories so instead of having one great
big menu with multiple makes models and bios revisions, I can drill
down into menu's until i get to the bios revisions to

Fwd: [BKO] CentOS for boot.kernel.org
...roject is interested in generally providing or are we looking
at specific support for BKO? ?Just trying to figure out if we are
going to end up in the having to forward port the changes continually
on new releases or if this is something that CentOS is willing to pick
up and maintain.
