Is There an Alternative to MEMDISK ?
This isn't an esp urgent issue, but I'd like to use a certain RAM diagnostic (Doc Mem) which I've already posted a note about a couple of months ago. Simply won't work booting the floppy disk image via MEMDISK. In the interim, I've tried to resolve this by changing things on my side. I'm pretty sure it's a XMS incompatibility, as it fails differently depending on

Fwd: [BKO] CentOS for boot.kernel.org
Hey I would be happy to maintain such a thing but I would need someone as a backup. Cheers Didi ---------- Forwarded message ---------- From: J.H. <warthog19 at eaglescrag.net> Date: Mon, Oct 19, 2009 at 9:51 PM Subject: Re: [BKO] CentOS for boot.kernel.org To: Geerd-Dietger Hoffmann <ribalba at gmail.com> Cc: bko at hera.kernel.org Didi, I assume you mean with respect to the live images as opposed to the network installers (since we already...

PXE boot problem
I must be making some silly mistake. I can get the pxelinux.0 file to load, but cannot get the config file to load. I keep getting the message that it is trying to load a file from pxelinux.cfg. I have checked all the file permissions and other instructions. The tftpserver is running on Fedora 5. I have tried to load pxelinux on 2 completely different computers without success.

Extlinux support makes Fedora's mkinitrd
Hey all, Just thought I'd give a quick shout out across the mailing list that it looks like Extlinux support got merged into Fedora's mkinitrd, which I believe is in time for Fedora 11. This apparently isn't my full patch series (which if anyone cares can be found at: http://git.kernel.org/?p=boot/warthog9/mkinitrd-syslinux.git;a=summary ) since it's missing the Extlinux

Problem with menu.c32
It looks like there's a bug in menu.c32, specifically dealing with the number of times you change menu pages. When a total (including the default load) of 28-29 loads of menu.c32 occurs the whole system will hang (ctrl+alt+del doesn't do anything). Looks like it's a problem concerning the number of file handles or something along those lines. The easiest way to duplicate the

PXE Knife Pre-Release
Afternoon everyone, I thought I'd let you all know I've just finished up the first initial release of PXE Knife, a utility that makes use of Syslinux to provide a bunch of utilities that (mostly) come on floppy disks and are a true pain to try and deal with. The goal is to try and give a normal sysadmin enough good tools within a pxe boot environment be able to deal with a number of

PXE Knife 0.0.2 released
Based on the initial feedback and bug reports concerning PXE Knife 0.0.1 I've made some updates, fixed a few programs that didn't work and cleaned things up a bit so that cd iso's could be created - thus was born PXE Knife 0.0.2. This will be the first release that will be broadcast more widely than the syslinux mailing list, but I still welcome feedback, bug reports or anything
