It's actually rather funny, but sad, that NTFS has a security model waaaaaay more capable and nuanced than most Unix systems (even some with ACLs) - yet until relatively recently, Windows didn't take advantage of this.

SIP Registration Difficulties
I have SIP registrations working correctly for FWD and Sipphone, but it
is impossible to connect to Sipcall or Nikotel, I saw that someone on
the list has problems with ICH.
To try and sort out the problem I tried to register to Sipcall with
Linphone and sent the dialogs to tech support of the equipment provider.
Here is their answer:-
The reason the registration fails is because not

rsync on Windows questions
Hi
I'm using a cygwin compiled rsync on Windows to backup
and restore files from my local Windows computer. I'm trying
several destination types:
- remote with rsync://
- Samba share \\Server\Share
- local drive
I'm having problems with the user rights. The backup works
ok but after restoring some files I can't access them. I've
read that this is because rsync runs as cygwin

Need Help! Poor performance about randomForest for large data
Hi, dears,
I am processing some data with 60 columns, and 286,730 rows.
Most columns are numerical value, and some columns are categorical value.
It turns out that: when ntree sets to the default value (500), it says "can
not allocate a vector of 1.1 GB size"; And when I set ntree to be a very
small number like 10, it will run for hours.
I use the (x,y) rather than the (formula, data).

That might be entirely due to SoX treating it as a 16-bit file, which it is
not; -100dB is almost

Asterisk BRI in the USA
Hey all,
It such a shame that BRI technology is such a flop in the USA. For a
small office such as mine it would be a great product. So her goes my
question.... What is a known asterisk working BRI card that will
operate in the USA. I need to weigh price/quality. I need to do
DID/DDI (or what ever you want to call it). Asterisk will do everything
else I need. The ILEC has at the other
