Samba WINS server and lost domain controllers
...quot;. I am assuming the workstation or server is asking WINS to give it the address of a domain controller, and WINS is not responding, or is responding wrong. Anyone else had a problem like this? I am using samba v1.9.18p10. Browsing across subnets - network star configuration
...and the domain master browser, to live on the Linux router box. Considering that the Linux router is already common to all three networks, is it really necessary to configure a domain master browser? How would I configure this? samba blamed for network problems (help!)
Howdy folks: Hi. It's me again. I've posted before about browsing problems, etc. Here's the setup: An isolated LAN (most clients have modems for dialling out) with one linux/samba machine (RedHat 4.2, kernel 2.0.30, samba 1.9.18p8) and ~20 win95 (OSR/2.1) clients. We used to have Netware 4.11 until the new PC/lan guy decided we didn't it any more (our old server now runs

File Permissions
I have set up Samba so that all users on my small network can read from my one of my Linux shares as well as write to that share. However, when user A saves a file to that share, user B can't open it -- and vice versa. How can I set up samba so that all files written to that share can be read, modified, and deleted by all users? Thanks in advance for an answer to this question.
