Analogue phone w/ TDM400
Hi,
I'm running * 1.2.7.1 on Red Hay 9.0 w/ a TDM 400 2 x FXS, 1 x FXO.
I'm using a VTech cordless that makes three short beeps when someone
another extension is picked up, presumably this lets you know if
someone is trying to listen in..
Everything works, except the VTech now makes the three beeps everytime
you try to use it, even if another extension is in use. It seems as
though th...

Cordless SIP Phones
Can anyone recommend a good cordless user-configurable SIP hardphone that is
readily available in the states and doesn't cost $300? There seem to be a
plethora of decent and affordable corded phones (like from Grandstream) but
the search for a cordless unit seems elusive. I purchased a vtech 8100
online only to discover after receiving it that it is locked to vonage
service.
Thank you.

How can I use my regular phones with Asterisk running on my Linksys WRT54G router?
...;ve done some more research and I don't think I want an FXO box...
What I'd like to do is use BroadVoice (with their BYOD plan) and then
run Asterisk on my WRT54G router. I'd also like to use my regular home
phones without having to use a special "SIP" phone... (eg. I like my
Vtech normal cordless phones)
What do I need to buy to get this working? It sounds like I need to
purchase a "Zaptel" interface card, but of course I can't use those
with a router...

issue with Digium TDM410P
The TDM410P doesn't support 'hvac', only the obsolete TDM400P supports that
option was for the old phones that have a neon light (or equivalent
LED+ZENER ciruit).
Are other phones off the TDM410P (other than the VTECH) working, or is the
Vtech the only model with VMWI available to you.
I'm not able to check at the moment, I have copied the asterisk-users list,
someone else may have had the same problem.

Caller ID ?
...list now i am stuck .
I have a small * box at my house running 1.0.9 stable and a devlite
kit. Every thing is awesome VM, IVR, Echo canceling, and Meetme are all
working great.
But on Incoming caller id i need to add a 9 as a prefix to make it
easier to return call from my cordless phone (cheap vtech phone). I have
tried to search the list and also google but i think i am searching of
the wrong thing. If i could get a kick in the right direction that would
be great.

multiline, cordless, expandable phone system and asterisk message waiting
...etty much perfect except for 2 things
1) The base station/corded phone is not wall mountable (not critical)
2) The unit doesn't have WMWI (visual message waiting indicator) for Telco
provided voicemail, the VMWI only works with the units onboard answering
system. :-(
I've looked at some Vtech systems, most are pretty nice, work well (I have
several clients using them) and have most of the features I want, except the
availability seems low as Staples (and other local retailers) have stopped
carrying the unit I want. The local Vtech factory store also closed a few
weeks ago :-(

Echo worse after new echo patch
...gs before the latest path:
echocancel=yes
echocancelwhenbridged=yes
echotraining=yes
rxgain=8.0
after applying the patch my settings are the same except for:
echotraining=800
Problem:
I'm seeing is that echo is actually worse on the XLite SIP
phones! Also, my wife is telling me that the Vtech 5.8 Ghz cordless
attached to the TDM400P now actually has some echo, when it never did
before. (I received the infamous, "What did you do to the phone...it
sounds terrible!")
Any ideas or suggestions?
Will the path affect the rxgain setting? Will that need to be
re-adjusted?
What...

Message Waiting Indicator (MWI) for remote voice mail?
I have Asterisk voice mail setup locally. It works great, I'm impressed!
Some details about my system: I'm using a TDM22B card to interface with both
the PSTN and a VOIP provider. I'm running 1.2-beta from CVS.
I have a regular VTech phone plugged into one of the FXS ports.
Asterisk is able to indicate when a local voicemail message is waiting via
the LCD display of my analog phone. It also gives a broken dial tone. This
is achieved by specifying mailbox=<mb#> in zapata.conf and possibly also by
specifing adsi=yes in the...

Asterisk, ATA186 and callerid
Hi,
I'm having trouble getting caller*id to appear on my phone connected
to an ATA186, and being called from Asterisk.
Does anyone out there successfully see callerid on their
ata186-connected phone?
The "From:" header in the INVITE to the ATA seems to have the "right
stuff" - eg
From: "Study phone" <sip:6002@195.217.255.45:5062>;tag=as412db061

Major problems with TDM400 and specific telephones: suggestions?
...1 FXO module. Right now, the FXO is
installed but not connected to anything, and the FXS are connected to a
number of telephones, including an inexpensive Lucent standalone analog
phone, a 2-line AT&T standalone analog phone, a 2-line GE analog
speakerphone with AC adapter, an inexpensive VTech cordless telephone with
AC adapter, and a 2-line GE cordless phone, also with AC adapter. I am
testing the board right now just by calling back and forth internally from
extension to extension.
As long as I do not have the GE cordless phone plugged in, there seems to
be no problems so far. A...

Cost of IP Phones, or Isn't It Just Software?
I took a little foray into pricing out IP Phones for my home pbx
yesterday. $75-$750 seems to be quite a range, so I took a closer look.
Cisco, for example, has different models such as the 7940 and 7960 which
seem to only differ in the software. And buying a Cisco 7920 should
cost you $500 w/o a license, and $200 more with a license? It seems to
me that these prices are substantially
