xvm-gate: arrow keys broken in pygrub
...grub/menu.lst file. pygrub is used as bootloader.
With xVM 3.1.4, the arrow keys can be used in the pygrub screen.
With xVM 3.3-unstable, the arrow keys don''t work for me any more.
What I''ve found out so far is that:
- gnome-terminal, xterm or dtterm are running with
"vt100 application key mode" disabled, that is, the arrow
keys send ESC [ A, ESC [ B, ESC [ C and ESC [ D
- pygrub is started by xend with $TERM=vt100
The vt100 terminfo entry defines the "vt100 application key mode"
sequences for the cursor keys:
ESC O A, ESC O B, ESC O C and ESC...

Serial console
...help]
??????????
10.0.0.14 is the DRAC IP address of the CentOS 6.3 box. It accepts the password
and connects me to the console but then when I type I get those funny
characters. Somehow an agetty is already being run:
root 46110 1 0 16:13 ttyS1 00:00:00 /sbin/agetty /dev/ttyS1 19200 vt100-nav
Is udev starting this up for me somehow? It says 19200 when everything I have
read says it should be 115200. How do I change this? Some docs say I should
create my own /etc/init/serial-ttyS1.conf containing:
# For IPMI serial console
# ttyS1 - agetty
#
# This service maintains a agetty on tty...

Set font and size in xterm
I have a situation where gnome console does not handle vt102 escape
sequences properly and therefor need to employ xterm instead. When
I run xterm from a gnome terminal window I am presented with an
extremely small terminal window employing an almost unreadably small
font.
I have attempted to set the font size using xrdb and a custom
.Xresources file. I can change the colour scheme. I can

Pretty sure that not. That would totally mess up things like
OS/2 console windows and possibly VT100 (hardware) terminals
and just look like extra junk spewed before the prompt (also
throwing off the shell surrounding the ssh client?s calcula?
tion of the input line length / cursor position).

[Bug 1116] Solaris 10: mucho remote terminal problems

compiler (cc, Sun C 5.7 2005/01/07).
The problems have manifested themselves on remote ssh connections from Mac OS
10.4.3 systems using
Mac terminal (version 1.5 build 133) with term definitions xterm, xtermc,
xterm-color; and on Win XP
systems using SSH client from www.ssh.com, term definition vt100. Example:
open MacOS terminal with
termdef xterm-color, ssh to the Solaris 10 system, login. The remote Solaris
10 system uses xtermc for
xterm-color, by way of a symlink in /usr/share/lib/terminfo/x
xterm-color->xtermc. The problems are:
a) a control-C hangs the remote login session.
b) /us...

serial console config package?
I've been installing CentOS via PXE and using a serial console
interface. The installation works great. I notice that during the
install process, the following line gets added automatically to
/etc/inittab:
co:2345:respawn:/sbin/agetty ttyS0 9600 vt100-nav
Which package does this? Is it kudzu? Thanks for any insights.

[RFC] I've made a huge mistake
...ake build system over the last year. Below I've listed the primary reasons that have weighed on my conscience.
(1) CMake's Windows support has led more Windows users to LLVM, and as a Unix user, I just can't relate to them. Call me old fashioned, but if you aren't writing code in a vt100 terminal you're just not in a world I understand. I can even set aside the age-old Emacs vs Vim debate, but not writing code in a terminal is something completely different.
(2) CMake's scripting language has made our build system support all these crazy use cases that I never dreamed of,...
