[PATCH 0 of 4] mm+paravirt+xen: add pte read-modify-write abstraction
Hi all, This little series adds a new transaction-like abstraction for doing RMW updates to a pte, hooks it into paravirt_ops, and then makes use of it in Xen. The basic problem is that mprotect is very slow under Xen (up to 50x slower than native), primarily because of the ptent = ptep_get_and_clear(mm, addr, pte); ptent = pte_modify(ptent, newprot); /* ... */ set_pte_at(mm, addr, pte,

[PATCH] linux/x86: make xen_change_pte_range() compatible with CONFIG_HIGHPTE
Cannot use virt_to_machine() on a kmap()-ed address. As usual, written and tested on 2.6.24 and made apply to the 2.6.18 tree without further testing. [PATCH 0 of 4] mm+paravirt+xen: add pte read-modify-write abstraction (take 2)
Hi all, [ Change since last post: change name to ptep_modify_prot_, on the grounds that it isn't really a general pte-modification interface. ] This little series adds a new transaction-like abstraction for doing RMW updates to a pte, hooks it into paravirt_ops, and then makes use of it in Xen. The basic problem is that mprotect is very slow under Xen (up to 50x slower than native),

paravirt & xen & SMP
Hi, Anyone has this working? Looks like there is a chicken-and-egg issue with pda setup: * xen_load_gdt() uses multicalls, thus depends on cpu-specific variables (per-cpu mc buffer) which in turn requires pda being setup already. * pda setup can't be done before xen_load_gdt() ... Next question while looking at xen_load_gdt(): why does it use multicalls in the first place?

domU can''t start, Non-priv warnings
Can''t seem to fully boot a domU on either EM64T or Opteron with x86_64 xen-unstable. [PATCH 00/28] ia64/xen domU paravirtualization
Hi linux/ia64 developers. Few days before Eddie posted the mail for Linux/IA64 paravirtualization. But only a few responded partially because there was no reviewable patches. Here is the patches for xen/ia64 Linux paravirtualization. The goal is to merge IA64 xen Linux paravirtualization for both domU and dom0 eventually. However the first step is to merge domU portion. As you can see from the

[PATCH 00/25] xen: Xen implementation for paravirt_ops
Hi Andi, This series of patches implements the Xen paravirt-ops interface. It applies to 2.6.21-rc7 + your patches + the last batch of pv_ops patches I posted. This patch generally restricts itself to Xen-specific parts of the tree, though it does make a few small changes elsewhere. These patches include: - some helper routines for allocating address space and walking pagetables - Xen

Hi Andi, This series of patches implements the Xen paravirt-ops interface. It applies to 2.6.21-git13 + patches-2.6.21-git7-070507-1.tar.gz (I think "unwinder" is the only patch which doesn't apply to git13, and the sched-clock patches are the only ones which this series actually needs). Changes since the last posting: - More netfront review and cleanup - Added ability to

[patch 00/29] xen: Xen implementation for paravirt_ops
Hi Andi, This series of patches implements the Xen paravirt-ops interface. It applies to 2.6.21-git3 + ff patches-2.6.21-git3-070501-1.tar.gz. Changes since the last posting: - reviews of xenbus (me), netfront (hch, rusty, herbert xu) and blockfront (hch), with most comments addressed. Netfront review revealed a couple of real bugs, and the code for all three is looking cleaner
