Viral activitiy coming from an IP in your network.
Hi, my name is Grant Taylor. I am a subscriber to the LARTC mail list lartc@mailman.ds9a.nl. The LARTC mail lists has been plagued with viral email coming from changing IPs in your one of your subnets. Based on the fact that the WhoIs information below says that the subnet in question is a dial up pool this would explain the changing IPs. In less than 6 days the list has received 14 viral emails infected with Win32.Bagle.AE or Zip.Bagl...

Thank You!
Robert's suggestion indeed fixed the problem. I kept thinking those entries were necessary in inetd.conf. Also, kind thanks to Fred Gilbert for his prompt responses.:-) John

MIT vs GPL vs LGPL for open source project
I intend to release a project I wrote with Rails. What is the right licensing scheme for a web application (content managing system) which could grow with plugins and add-ons ? Personally, I would prefer the GPL but does that mean any add-on to the CMS (like task management) will have to be GPL ? If some people contribute to the code could it still be double-licenced so that the people who

If not, is there another version of Samba such that I can use to achieve this functionality? === Viral Shah

ZFS and Linux
Hello, I believe that ZFS and it''s concepts is truly revolutionary to the point that I no longer see any OS as modern if it does not have comparable storage functionality. Therefore I think that file system/disk manager with similar qualities should be written for Linux. Does Sun have plans to dual license ZFS as GPL so it can be ported to native Linux? If not, is it legal to write

Looking for help on a collaborative effort
...f the existing sites do individually. I''d really like to see this project become a showcase for the new technologies such as RAILS, and I think it would make a perfect fit. The plan is to make a site that has vast appeal, easy to use/navigate, attract a large number of people through viral growth and the creation of buzz that then attracts the attention of the more mainstream communication channels, and monetize the site via Google''s Ad Sense - keeping the site totally free and thus much more desirable to a much larger audience. (I''m also open to exploring othe...

colour of label points on a boxplot
Hi all, I have 6 datasets(dataframes Assem_ContigsLen7 through all_ContigsLen12) containing 3 columns (contig_id, contig_length, read_count). Each dataset is composed of 3 types of contigs (assemblies of genomic fragments), 1- all Bacterial fragments, 2 - all Viral fragments, 3 - mixed fragments. I identified the type of contig through a merge with another table with just contig_id and contig_type as below: AssemViral_ContigsLen<-merge(Assem_ContigsLen,allViral_contigs,by.x="contig_id",by.y="X.Contid.ID",all.x=FALSE) Below is a boxp...

frequency, count rows, data for heat map
Hi all, I have read posts of heat map creation but I am one step prior -- Here is what I am trying to do and wonder if you have any tips? We are trying to map sequence reads from tumors to viral genomes. Example input file : 111 abc 111 sdf 111 xyz 1079 abc 1079 xyz 1079 xyz 5576 abc 5576 sdf 5576 sdf How may xyz's are there for 1079 and 111? How many abc's, etc? How many times did reads from sample (1079) align to virus xyz. In some cases there are thous...
