vinyl sign letter cutter
I am looking for a recommendation for a vinyl sign letter cutter that is
supporrted under Linux, specifically Centos. My knowledge of these
machines is nil, but a bit of googling makes it appear that at least
some of them can be made to work using Inkscape.
Does anyone have any recommendations?

I called winecfg, got the gui and set the decor to win7. Clicked on Apply and started moving through the tabs to check. When I clicked on the graphics tab I got this page fault. Here is my complete console log.

Idea to possibly improve flac?
Cool, thanks for all the great comments.
I think we agree now on that the "find mp3 before encoding" feature would not be a good idea to implement in the flac core. As Brian pointed out, it might be a better idea to create a program that automatically checks if a flac might have been an mp3 source.
My first suggestion was to use FFT, because I know that 128kbps mp3 have a low-pass

saving the encoding options...
I would like to be able to see what options an ogg was made with, so it
is quick/fast to recognise which are -q, which are -b, etc. I see there
is already Max/Min/Nominal rates mentioned by ogginfo - and if the
actual rate is relatively far off from the nominal rate, then it is
likely -q, but this isn't reliable enough, and with just more options
coming soon...
As a matter of fact, I'd

oggenc command not found
Dear Vorbis List,
I have just joined this List. Thankyou to all the developers who have
worked on this project it is wonderful.
I am running SuSE 7.3 and the cdaudio ogg ripping works very well. I am
now in the process of archiving my vinyl in ogg files. According to the
SuSE manual this is done using the oggenc command but I get no such
command to work. I have also tried ./oggenc.

OT: Perfect Pitch
I won't bother quoting all of Moz's statements of how sound
is interpreted by those blessed/cursed with tape recorders
in their heads :)
I will add that his whole explanation of perfect pitch
perception easily offers an explanation as to why
some individuals will only archive flac/pac/ape (Moz - do you?)
and those of us that do not perceive that level of
detail and are fine using ogg
