Samba 4.5.7 breaks my smb-servers on Fedora 25
Hai An other possible workaround, You can also try to add the vfs object in the share share its needed. In you global settings : allow insecure wide links = yes unix extensions = no in the share, there where needed. vfs objects = (yourneeded vfs_objects) and wide links = yes vfs object is normaly set in the share not global. At least thats was `man smb.conf` is telling me. The load order of vfs_objects do matter. VFS Objects Recycle questions
I have a need to setup the recycle vfs object on our server. On my test server, I have all of the shares on a single drive and have put the following into each share: vfs_objects = recycle recycle:repository = [Actual Path and Partition that the share is located] recycle:directory_mode = 770 recycle:keeptree = Yes recycle:touch_mtime = Yes recycle:versions = Yes It works like a charm. All of the files when deleted from each share are dumped into the RecycleBin share, I ha...

R: Missing 'security' tab
ah... ok, now i understand.   So you have a small difference between these to servers. My first guess would be something with vfs_objects.  Wrong orders might hide the security tab in windows.   Your setting up windows ACL's. Remove all posix related setttings from smb.conf ( im asking Rowland for support here, because om on holiday in 20 min  )  :-P :-)) ...   All you need for a windows acl setup. Samba 3.6 directory ACLs
I have ACLs working for files with the following set in my share definitions: inherit permissions = yes inherit acls=yes map acl inherit=yes vfs_objects = acl_tdb While testing my Samba configuration, I found that permissions are being set to 'special' for directories being copied from Windows instead of the ACL being fully populated. Does Samba 3.6 fully implement ACLS, or are there further configuration steps for storing the ACL info...

In some spare time, been trying to get Samba 4.10.6-1 working on AIX. Several earlier posts handled by Louis and Rowland. Which were much appreciated and beneficial. Using this stripped (leaving comments out of it) GLOBALS section of smb.conf: [global] workgroup = boost realm = BOOST.COM server string = Samba Server Version %v interfaces = lo eth0

vfs_recycle on samba 4.3.9 as DC reset permissions
...more for the particular share. > > Is this a known problem? > Is there maybe an workaround available? > > Regards > Frank Treichl Do you have "vfs objects = acl_xattr" in your global section? Please add it to your share and try again. Im not sure, but i mean by adding vfs_objects to a share reset the global ones for this share. Markus

Subject=Re: Mac Clients Disconnect with: source3/smbd/service.c:1050(close_cnum) closed connection to service data
Louis - have you run testparm -s on your server? You don?t show it in your smb.conf, but I assume you have vfs objects = catia fruit streams_xattr there as well as in your [data] share. If you don?t, you should since you have various fruit: parameters in the [global]. The SMB conversation in your Wireshark pcap would be easier to read if you filter on ?smb2? :-) Todd

...'guest ok = yes', but this can never work (even after you fix the 'map to guest' problem) because the user 'nobody' (or whoever the guest user is on AIX) is not in the 'valid users'. If this was using an ext4 filesystem (or similar), I would suggest adding 'vfs_objects = acl_xattr' to [global], but this is jfs2 on AIX. A bit of investigation turned up 'vfs_aixacl2' which I think will do the same thing, try running 'man vfs_aixacl2', if this doesn't work, see here: https://fossies.org/linux/misc/samba-4.11.6.tar.gz/samba-4.11.6/source3/...

vfs_recycle on samba 4.3.9 as DC reset permissions
Hi, I set up an Ubuntu 16.04 machine with samba 4.3.9 as DC. Everything works fine. I created users and groups with the Windows RSAT tools. I also set different group permissions on some shares over Windows. My Problem is now that I tried to enable the samba recycle bin: [mytest] path = /data/samba/mytest read only = No vfs objects = recycle

Recycle with path outside the share
Hi, what do I have to do, to define a recycle folder outside a share e.g. the users home for each share? As far as I understand the default values, it's not allowed to leave the share folder. recycle:repository = /home/user/.recycle -- Viele Gr??e Andreas Hauffe

Hi Kees, Thanks once more. To be precise: - you are running this on DCs? - no links required as on the wiki page? - "vfs objects = dfs_samba4, acl_xattr, full_audit" - I don?t have that in my smb.conf. What part(s) of this are default, required, or special? Thanks, Joachim -----Urspr?ngliche Nachricht----- Von: samba <samba-bounces at lists.samba.org> Im Auftrag von Kees van
