Migrate Win2k3 to KVM
Hi, I made a disk image with CloneZilla from the original physical machine. That image was restored on an iSCSI volume. It isn't booting. I got BSOD. I tried IDE, SATA, SCSI disk type without any success. I tried to using virtio driver and if I use my image+W2k3 install CD+virtio VFD the Windows repair console see the disk and I can use the repair console with my image but the windows not start (or not booting because the system disk can't be seen by original "registry"). The drivers from virtio VFD image were copied to Windows' Driver directory manually. I...

Memdisk large IMA file
Does someone know where I could get my hands on an ima that's larger than 2.88meg... I use winimage for all my ima's and stuff but i'm having trouble configuring a custom size. If anyone has a large ima I could utilize that would be great, preferably one fitting this memdisk supported size: 3,932,160 bytes (3840K) c=80 h=2 s=48 3.5" DSED (extended) If not instructions on making

P2V challenge that demands some creativity
Here is a P2V challenge I could use some advice with. I have a source Windows 2003 physical machine that was upgraded several years ago from Windows 2000. So its system is at C:\WINNT instead of C:\Windows. The target is a RHEV VM. Booting the source machine from the virt-p2v CD and trying virt-p2v-server fails apparently because the Windows directory is c:\WINNT. What about the

Usin ISO Linux & Memdisk to create a Viritual Floppy drive that Linux & Windows can load driver disk from.
Hi, It is becoming a bad habit for big OEM vendors to sell computers & servers without floppy drives. Unfortunatly both Windows and Linux (RedHat) need a floppy drive to load storage drivers etc. during installation. This is what I was thinking: Use ISOLINUX and MEMDISK to load a floppy image of a driver disk into memory as a viritual floppy drive "A:"/"/dev/fda" And then

virtio-win for fedora 14
...I am attempting to perform a virt-p2v migration from a windows xp system onto a fedora 14 host. I'm stuck at trying to locate the virtio-win drivers to place on my fedora host however. I was pointed to http://alt.fedoraproject.org/pub/alt/virtio-win/14/images/bin/ and downloaded this iso and vfd. The vfd seems to contain the drivers, but is still missing the files below. Anyone know where I could obtain them from? windows/firstboot.bat windows/rhev-apt.exe windows/rhsrvany.exe Thanks, Brian -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... Problems booting msdos with memdisk + syslinux on hp laptops
I have many hp laptops that boot msdos with memdisk + pxelinux perfectly. However, I recently have the need to usb boot msdos with syslinux. And memdisk. When the dos Image loads I get "loading bootsector..." and then it halts. Sometimes I can get "starting ms-dos" but freezes as well. I'm trying to boot clean msdos floppy image created with winimage. I'm using

USB Thumbdrive + dos ghost boot image + drive too small = confusion
I will really hate myself if this has already been solved, i searched the archives but didn't really find anything pertaining to it. I have a 2.88mb dos boot floppy image, with ghost.exe, dos nic drivers, and dos system files. It works fine when burnt to a cd. As for the thumbdrive when trying to configure this hpghost.ima file to run from my syslinux.cfg menu, it works and boots up fine but

I don't think this would make a difference to virt-v2v, since (currently) v2v matches bits of the path to try to determine which driver(s) to apply.
