latest samba_2_2 problem
...users (Win98 ad Win2K) went into explorer, they could see no names on the folders in samba shares, just blank folders.
I quickly put it back to the older 2.2.2 configuration and everyone is back to normal. Was this something i missed or did wrong, or is it an issue with the latest samba?
Thanks,

How do you guys protect Samba shares from Win32 based viruses?
That's pretty much the question. I've got Symantec
NAVCE running on my NT server protecting itself, the
Windows clients and the Exchange server, but what do i
do about my Linux based Samba server?
Will a linux based AV app search for Win32 based
viruses?

Please help with winbind setup
...winbind.so
I am ONLY concerned with users being able to access the
samba shares. I don't want them to be able to login or
ftp to the samba box. If anyone here can help me out
with this one i would really appreciate it. If any
more info is required, please don't hesitate to ask.

...t i do not have "pam_winbind.so" in that dir
nor is it located anywhere else on the machine.

winbind and groups
...i get errors stating that it is an invalid group name.
What's the deal here? None of my group names are using
spaces. "chown" works great for all DOMAIN users but
"chgrp" will not work for any groups at all.
If anyone has any ideas i would appreciate the help.

winbind and pam files
...do they mean that we change ALL
the files in that directory? If not, what files do we
change? Another set of docs i read for winbind stated
that i should change the /etc/pam.d/samba file, but on
my TurboLinux 6.5 and RH 7.1 systems that file doesn't
exist.
What's the deal here?
Thanks,

README.Win32-Viruses and MS Office Administrative Installation Points
...st likely Office2K as well).
Riched20.dll is included in Office and is required for
most installations.
If you want to use Samba for an Office admin install
point, you'll have to let "riched20.dll" slide.
Just figured i'd save some of you guys a few minutes of
troubleshooting.
