Ashlee Vance's article on R in the New York Times
Ashlee Vance's article on R in the New York Times.
This is typical of the New York Times. Because they get to coast on the
prestige and reputation of their brand , they have a history of just this
sort of journalistic sloppiness. Whether it's the author or the editor at
fault doesn't really matter,...

Recursive pxelinux.0 and pxelinux.cfg directories.
I am trying to set a uniform PXE environment to load multiple distros.
RHEL 5.1 and 4.7
SUSE 10.2 and 11
Solaris 10 X86
Window Multiple server versions.... - Why? Because I am in hell.
What I want is to have an upper level pxelinux.0 call the default menu directories that come with the releases.
Is there a way to call pxelinux.0 and point it at a different pxelinux.cfg directory?

Next time you want to show people lots of big long log files, can you either
gzip them up, or post a url? My shared 56k line doesn't like it when people
send big attachments.

AT&T researchers from an earlier generation? It would be the

The R team did not develop the user interface for R, the designers of
the S programming language did. The layman reader of Vance's article
will get the impression that R is a brand new invention, which is
misleading and unfair. Gentleman and Ihaka should try harder to give
credit where credit is due.
And by the way, ARE YOU GUYS EVER GOING TO FIX your mailing list

FAILURE - WRITE_DMA timed out
When I use SATA disks heavily on a 5.3-R machine (Athlon) with the
SiI3512 disk controller, I get frequent (sometimes one every 1-5
minutes) WRITE_DMA timed out messages (with different blocks and both
disks).
It also panics with more than one kind of panic, and sometimes doesn't
even get to finish the background fsck from the previous panic before
dying again.
Given that both disks get the
