ogg123 oss plugin plays garbage
I tried to use the current cvs version of ogg123 with oss output and the ogg just sounds like static. I wanted to document it on the list in case anyone else is having the problem. I can make ogg123 write wav files fine. Also Vakor does not have any trouble playing oggs with ogg123, so I am not certain what the problem is. I have tried compiling all of ogg vorbis (ao,ogg,vorbis,vorbis-tools) several times without success. Are the snapshots up yet and, if so, where? can I just do an update with bitkeeper? I'm running 2-month-old code which I'm certain must be outdated now, but I've never gotten an answer on how best to update this. Geoff. --- >8 ---- List...

I found a couple of snapshots in Jack's i.cantcode.com web directory (http://i.cantcode.com/~jack/) and I think the last one there was from August 7...

alsa support for ices
Who wants it? Do you? I know I do. I have a patch here that applies to the cvs from a couple of nights ago. I like how modular the inputs are... it made the development that much easier. I'm not a "professional" alsa developer, so people may find problems. I was able to stream a test stream for a couple of minutes with no (noticable) problems. I'm going to do more testing

If you report this error without upgrading the mpg123 plugin, I will probably slap you :) freeamp - vakor has been working with the freeamp guys. You'll need whatever the latest version is, possibly the latest beta version. afaik, there are no known issues with freeamp streaming. winamp - the beta4 plugin includes streaming, but it's horribly bad, just like ogg123. The entire winamp plugin i...

hi & rpms
Hi, Seems majordomo allows me in now ;) For those of you who don't know me, Vakor asked me to do 1.0 rpm packages right before the release, which I did. I was pretty new to vorbis internals but I hope I managed to do a good job. In any case, last night on IRC in #vorbis someone was pretty rude to me in complaining about a problem he had with them. In the end I lost my tem...

Oggenc bug & other
Hello! I would like to send some bugs and bugfix(es): 1. There is an encoding bug in the beta 3 (downloaded exe from the vorbis.com) and in the latest CVS (jan. 10.) too (compiled with MSVC 6.0): If the file contains some non-audible noise at the begin or at the end, the encoder/decoder makes some large clips in the output file, if the bitrate is 350kbit/s . If I use 256kbit/s or

Patches and questions for spec files
I'm forwarding this mail, since thomasvs on #vorbis can't seem to subscribe/send to the list. Please Cc: thomas@apestaart.org when you answer, or write directly to him. ----- Forwarded message ----- Hi, I've been asked by Vakor to help out on the packaging of the 1.0 release (for Red Hat). (For some reason xiph.org is refusing any mail from our server, urgent.rug.ac.be, so I can't mail directly to the list or subscribe to them. I've put the diffs which were attached to the mail in http://urgent.rug.ac.be/tho...

ov_comment spec
I've been working towards a mp3info like tool, OggInfo, which will surplant vorbiscomment in functionality, and also incorportate mp3info like featuers. Looking at existing vorbis api calls, i find: vorbis_comment_add() /* unsupervised string insertion */ vorbis_comment_add_tag() /* formated TAG=text insertion */ vorbis_comment_query() /* scans for matching tag (up to count duplicates) and
