Count data in random Forest

Is randomForest() able to deal with count data?
Or is there no difference because only the ranks are used in the trees?
Thanks in advance

Fligner-Killeen test on binary data
Hello,
I investigate survival until the following year (0,1) and I wish to test if
the variance in survival for two or more groups are significantly different
from each other.
I read that the Fligner-Killeen test is a non-parametric test which is very
robust against departures from normality but is it correct (valuable
technique for publication) to use it on binary data?

getting line breaks with xtable
Sorry, for asking the same question again, but I got no reactions the last
time. Maybe it was just overseen by the experts.
I'm using the xtable function with Sweave and Lyx and I would like to know
how to get automatic line breaks for long strings in a column of the table.
I've learned from the Lyx wiki that the Latex command \linebreak produces
table cells with multiple lines. I tried to

summing array elements
Hi to everybody
I have an array with dimensions 2,4,3,3.
Wanting to sum the matrices in the first two dimensions, I'm trying to use
the "apply" function, but with no results. Have to say I'm quite new with R
syntax.

median of binned values
Dear list,
I have a vector (array, table row, whatever is best) of frequency values
for categories (or bins), and I need to find the median category.
Trivial to do by hand, but I was wondering if there is a means to do it
in R in an elegant way.
The obvious medioan(vector) returns the median frequency for the binns,
and that is not what I want. i.e,:

diagonal lines in legends of ggplot2
Hi, I have the following problem with ggplot2: When I specify black contours
for bars in a barplot, ggplot automatically shows diagonal lines in the
legend boxes. Is there a way, to remove these diagonal lines?
Here's a simple example:
library(ggplot2)
df<-data.frame(x=gl(6,1),y=rnorm(6,100,50))
ggplot(df,aes(y=y,x=x,fill=x))+geom_bar(aes(group=x),colour='black',size=1)+

can not start guest domain exported from NFS

I am using Xen 3.3 on a Fedora 8 machine and failed to start a guest
domain from an exported NFS directory.
The step I follow is as follows
NFS server: 192.168.1.1
NFS client: 192.168.1.201
1: I copy the guest.img, which can be corrected booted on NFS client
to the NFS server.
2: On the NFS server
mount guest.img /xen/guest; such that if I do a ls /xen/guest, I

smooth scatterplot and geo map
Hello everybody,
I'm trying to understand how to draw a smoothed scatterplot on a geographic
map with R.
Have a dataframe with point locations (long, lat) and was able to simply
plot these points on a shp map by using the maptools package. However,
instead of having simply the raw points on the map, I would like to have a
"smoothed" scatterplot of the same superimposed on the map.

nlrob problem
Dear all,
I am not sure if this mail is for R-help or should be sent to R-devel
instead, and therefore post to both.
While using nlrob from package 'robustbase', I ran into the following
problem:
For psi-functions that can become zero (e.g. psi.bisquare), weights in
the internal call to nls can become zero. Example:
d <- data.frame(x=1:5,y=c(2,3,5,10,9))
d.nlrob <-
