Remote shutdown+poweroff of W2K server
...ly shuts down without powering
off, displaying the message "It is now safe to turn off your computer".
This isn't terribly useful since I'm not at the console.
I would like to know if and how it is possible to get the Win2K server
to power off on shutdown with the Samba client utlities.
TIA,

Qemu-guest agent
Hi all,
I am new to libvirt, I am trying to execute some commands inside guest
domains from my host machine using libvirt-Python API. So far I have been
able to open up a stream but I am not sure how to send commands on the
stream (through virDomainOpenConsole). After hours of searching through
different forums I found out that there is a utlity called qemu-guest agent
which can solve my problem.

script.aculo.us V1.5_pre1 released
Heya,
I''ve just released script.aculo.us V1.5_pre1.
Please give it a try!
Important new stuff (since V1.1b1):
* Added a main scriptaculous.js file to load in the other libraries
transparently.
* Fixed a condition where standard a href=xxx links wouldn''t work in
autocomplete results. These do now, the onclick event is not
cancelled. [thx to Jasper Slits]

Bug in R CMD INSTALL when handling invalid LazyData DESCRIPTION field
Hi, I think I've found a bug in R CMD INSTALL. When it tries to parse a
DESCRIPTION file with an invalid LazyData field, it errors out while
trying to print the correct error message:

ssh-decrypt
Hi,
One of the problems we are facing is secure storage of
passwords (database, bestcrypt, other
applications/systems,
) and availability within
users' scripts (perl, python, ...) or applications
(Java, C,
). I'm sure that there are quite a few
people who are facing the same issue and there are
quite a few home made solutions, such as password
obfuscators and/or solutions based on the

backing up and restoring a samba configuration
Hi,
I'm trying to backup my samba configuration, including the users. I'm
making copies of these files:
/etc/samba/smb.conf
/etc/samba/smbpasswd
/etc/samba/smbusers
When I install samba on a new machine (I've recreated the directory
structure and Linux users) and replace the above files, users can't log
on to their shares. Am I missing a file? I thought the

trying to create a WinNT rescue disk
I have probably a rather unusual problem. I have a computer with WinNT
already installed on it, plus RedHat7.2, and would like to try and
create a repair disk for the WinNT install (I'm no longer able to boot
NT, though I have no problem starting the NT bootloader - after I
choose Windows NT 4.0 and it starts to boot, I get a BSOD with
reference to being unable to access the bootloader (which

Ethernet card addr <-> IP
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
Hi everyone -
Someone I''m working with has a requirement to map ethernet card addresses
to unique IP addresses, and then have a Linux IP masquerade server know of
this mapping list and not allow any data to pass from any ethernet card
that a) it doesn''t know about, or b) isn''t assigned the right IP. Ideally
it would also log this
