...there is a release of Samba for Os390/Unix later that 1.9. (I have tried downloading the 'samba-latest.tar.gz' file from the mirror site, but as I cannot unzip/untar it,due to not having the 'gzip' program !). Therfore I am not sure how compatible it may or may not be with my Os390/Uss platform. Thanks for any help received in advance. Retrieving samples when ussing BRugs.
Hello R users, I have used the R package BRugs in some applications but one thing that annoy me is the functions to retrieve samples ("samplesSample") or summary statistics ("samplesStats"). They take a really long time to return the values if the size of the chains in question is moderate, for example 10.000 samples. Does this happens with every one or there is a better way

Re: Severe problem with Icecast2 and streamTranscoder
Michael Smith wrote: > This still sounds more likely to be cpu starvation than anything else It seems you were correct. After updating my kernel (!), the CPU load figures given by 'top' and 'ps' for streamTranscoder suddenly rose from 0.0-0.3% to about 30-60%. There are occasional peaks above that, which might very well be causing the problem. And the system load now shows

Help with Amelia
Hi I have used the amelia command from the Amelia R package. this gives me a number of imputed datasets. This may be a silly question, but i am not a statistician, but I am not sure how to combine these results to obtain the imputed dataset to usse for further statistical analysis. I have looked through the amelia and zelig manuals but still can not find the answer. This maybe because I dont understand the science behind it. Can anyone help Thanks in advance

Old SAMBA and WinXP....
Ok, here's a simple question, (I just rejoined this list so apologies if it has been asked a million times before). Our Company runs SAMBA 1.9-18p1 from a USS (Unix System Services) on an IBM Mainframe. I used to have WinNT 4.0, and I could access Files on Windows Explorer through SAMBA with no problems. Now I updated one of my workstations to WinXP Pro., and - no access to the Samba Server, I just get the message; "The Account is not Authorized...

persp graphs
Hi, I am doing my way on R, with much experimenting. So, I am trying to plot a 3d graphic ussing "persp" and entering a data set (attached) of UTM coordinates as x,y and a pH values as z. However when I try an error message comes out telling that increasing x and y values are expected. Jus ordering the first vector does not help, and, of course, order the first two independentl...

Samba On The Mainframe
Greetings, This is my first posting. I read that Samba can run on USS OS/390 but are there tips or tricks that can be shared? I am a AIX systems engineer (13mos) with 13 years experience as a MVS systems guy. Our current release of OS/390 is 2.8 . I already found a lot of information about Samba on OS/390 in the download page and I'm trying to make sense of it. B...

Beginning lm
I have ussed lm to generate a basic line correlation: fit = lm(hours.of.sleep ~ ToSleep) Note: From "Bayesian Computation with R", Jim Albert, p. 7 I understand the simple y = mx + b line that this fits the data to. Now apparently I don't understand formulas. The documentation indicates that...

20 second delays when accessing Samba on Fedora 11
I had samba running fine on a Fedora 6 machine. I've upgraded to Fedora 11 and I'm getting huge delays when first accessing a folder. With Fedora 11 I'm ussing samba-3.3.2-0.33.fc11.i586. I'm getting about 60+ second delays before being requested to enter my username/password. I've used WireShark and can see 1) Session Setup AndX Request, NTLMSSP_NEGOTIATE 2) 20 seconds pass 3) Session Setup AndX Request, NTLMSSP_AUTH, User: xxx/yyy from my...
