dsync and active-active fault tolerance mail servers
...nce couple of mail servers. Is the following procedure correct? Let's suppose I want to set up two servers for acme.com, mail1.acme.com and mail2.acme.com I declare both servers as MX in DNS configuration. Mailbox are stored in maildir with a single UID/GID owner for all the maildir files Userbase is MySQL, user tables are replicated using MySQL tools; in this case, the replica is one way, that is mail1.acme.com holds the "master" copy of MySQL tables and mail2.acme.com hold the "copy". The replica is done via dsync with a procedure like this executed on mail1.acme.co...

Dovecot+Postfix+Maildir with ActiveDirectory userbase
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hi, has anyone implemented a mail server with maildir, Postfix and Dovecot using Active Directory ad userbase and password authentication? Do I need Samba to authenticate users? Can I use credential caching just like mysql? Ciao, luigi - -- / +--[Luigi Rosa]-- \ This morning at breakfast, I noticed that Kellogg's have put a helpline number on their cornflake packets. When you need a helpline for...

two listeners with different "driver = " configs
Hi, I would like to have two seperate imap listeners, with different authentication settings, but the mailstore and userbase etc will be identical. I know I can do this: > service imap-login { > inet_listener imap { > port = 143 > } > inet_listener imap2 { > port = 144 > } > } But I'm unsure how to configure imap/143 with "driver = ldap" and imap2/144 with...

authenticating NT users with space in username?
I know it's ridiculous, but I have a userbase where every username has a space in it. IE: "temp user". Is it possible to use samba to authenticate these users? So far I have been able to accept usernames without spaces flawlessly, but not the ones with spaces. Any help would be appreciated, thanks! -- View this message in context:...

CentOS 6: add icon to desktop
On my old CentOS 5 KDE, if I add a link to ~/Desktop, it appears on the desktop as an icon. But on my new CentOS 6 KDE, this does not work. How can I make it work? Thanks, Mike.

Integrating a samba server in a samba controlled domain
...configured as PDC (domaine CHERYLNET) and everything is running fine, from login to share and printer access. VLOUCHI is a second file server and its workgroup (thus domain) is also CHERYLNET ; security is set to domain and password server to HIROSHIMAN. The goal is that VLOUCHI shares the same userbase than HIROSHIMAN After having logged on on the W2K station, when I go to HIROSHIMAN, everything works fine. But when I first try to go to the VLOUCHI server, I am asked to give in a login/pwd. I cannot connect to the server even if a provide a pair which I know to exist on the PDC. I also have...

Can anyone suggest a solution?
Thankyou for taking the time to read this ... We have large PC userbase and a not-so-large (but equally loud) Unix user base. We have a requirement to "PopUp" information windows on ALL our user's screens with an absolute minimum of manual intervention (ie type the message once and then forget it). We can manage the Unix X servers but can't seem to f...

R Founding
...at the r-project page, then you have to fill out a form and send or fax it to the Foundation. I am not comfortable sending my details over snail-mail or fax. I would GLADLY donate 30-50$ each year just to see R develop, but there needs to be a way for me to do it in a civilized manner. If the userbase of R is over 2 million there will surely be 100,000 users who, like myself, will happily fork out 40$ a year - would that help? you can do the calculation yourselves. Set up a donation page in which I will be able to pay by credit card or PayPal and you will start getting donations from indivi...

Plotmath on Fedora 31 broken with with pango >= 1.44 - workarounds?
...IRC it occured by unicode 3.2 released in March 2002), so no newly created/updated font family is going to place those symbols in PUA anymore. Now adding the AMS symbols to new fonts has been slow, due to the large amount of software hardcoding Symbol (and equivallent) and masking the actual glyph userbase to font makers. It will accelerate with more apps expecting plain unicode by default. Thanks for the testing! Regards, -- Nicolas Mailhot

Final Post/Lack of support
...ut what I experienced there (as usual when someone enters that channel) is pure arrogance. Telling me to leave even after some minutes of my apologies has to have consequences. This announcement of ogg-prak, which is meant to try to solve the matter (after the damage is done and there is a huge userbase using *.ogm for video+audio content), just means we did wrong and renders all our files useless. I feel betrayed by Emmet, another official spokesman of Xiph, who said to support ogm, who now happily announces that prak solves all issues (and thus - once more from xiph - shows us we're wron...

Legacy option for key length?
If you mean put zero warnings and not 'wait until there are zero users' then I see in that a tacit agreement that indeed there comes a time when the userbase is small enough that it warrants removal/disablement (especially if there is a security concern, even more especially in security related software). Then it's just a question of when, and as is their custom and prerrogative, OpenSSH chose earlier than you would have liked in this case. Making s...

Server migration

If you only have a small userbase with modest amount of mail, you can probably take your whole system down, do a one time migration, then cut over to the new system without too much downtime. If you have medium sized operation, then what you propose above would work. If you have a large userbase (or large user mailboxes), or you...
