I've a good configuration so it's not the fault of my pc. Second, no network connexion is available. Can I make it works ? Thx for your help. -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...

Time for Usenet R Group?
...pes that if (1) others agree and (2) the R core group think it a good idea that a suitable volunteer will come forward. I am finding that the flood of R email messages is becoming difficult to deal with, even using filters, etc., in my email client. Would we be better served by establishing a Usenet newsgroup? Would that be practical or impractical? Would it create problems for the maintainers of R? -- Michael Prager <Mike.Prager at noaa.gov> NOAA Center for Coastal Fisheries and Habitat Research Beaufort, North Carolina 28516 USA http://shrimp.ccfhrb.noaa.gov/~mprager/ Sta...

Gothic 3 - problem with start menu
...le on Gentoo. I could provide a full log taken with 2>&1 | tee g3_log.txt if that would be helpful. At the end of that file there is a loop in which displaying the start menu is tried over and over again. Two times of that loop should be enough and i have cut out the remainder. This isn't supposed to be difficult (how to nntp post to the Gmane Pan user group)
I realize this is (mostly) off topic, but I'm befuddled as to *how* one can post to the Gmane Pan Users' group (gmane.comp.gnome.apps.pan.user) using any nntp USENET client (e.g., Pan, on Centos). I'm already subscribed (by having sent an email to pan-users at nongnu.org); but I just want that USENET group to work like *this* USENET group, where I can post using a server:port login:password combination such as we use here: Server: news.gmane.org Port:...

Is R-help gatewayed into usenet?
Does anyone know if the r-help mailing list is gatewayed into a usenet mailing list. (S-news is available as aus.stats.s and perhaps elsewhere). Replies to me. Why is the R mailing list so hard to figure out?
Why does the R mailing list need such an unusual and customized user interface? Last January, I figured out how to read Usenet mailing lists ( or Usenet groups ) and they all pretty much work the same, learn to use one, you've learned to use them all ( gnu.misc.discuss , comp.lang.lisp , and so on ). What's the best way to view and read discussions in this group for recent days? Can I view the postings for the cur...

[Bridge] Packet per Second
Hi all, It's my first time using usenet... Well, I work on an ISP and we have a linux box acting as a bridge+firewall. With this bridge+firewall we control the packet rate per second from each client and from our repeaters. But I can`t measure the packet rate per IP. Is there any tool for this? Actually, what I want is to measure the p...

Reconnecting wine-users and comp.emulators.ms-windows.wine
Hi Folks, I'm trying an experiment this morning; trying to reconnect this mailing list and the Usenet newsgroup so that they can be considered one logical entity. We used to have this feature, but it was done by a third party tool that did not work well. Then mailman added this feature, but when we tried it, it went psycho, trying to sync every email that ever was. But now mailman has added a ...

oblivion - data3.cab & black face of hero

OT: Forum or mailing list for Bash-related questions?
...I've decided to take the plunge and learn Bash correctly, using the O'Reilly Bash Cookbook. I'm currently looking for the right place to ask questions, but curiously enough, Google searches about "bash forum" result in nothing conclusive. I took a peek in the corresponding USENET newsgroup, but there seems to be close to no activity. Any suggestions for that? Cheers, Niki

Dear Samba and Linux list users - Several people have commented on the volume of spam reaching the list. Andrew (the list maintainer, I am but a lowly assistant) has been advised of your comments and will take action if he thinks it's necessary. Writing responses to the R-Help list
A while back Gabor Grothendieck suggested that I try http://news.gmane.org/gmane.comp.lang.r.general. This was after I asked how to easily reply to posts on the listserve. Ideally I would like the functionality that I find in Microsoft Outlook Express newsreader for usenet groups or what I find in Google Groups. I started using gmane about 3 weeks ago. I find it fantastic for searching and for following threads but when I tried the "followup" function it dutifully gave me the message "You've now posted to gmane.comp.lang.r.general." However,...

Newsgroup
This morning I had 37 messages from the r-help list in my mailbox. I think its becoming excessive for an e-mail list. I wonder if whoever looks after this list could either move or gateway it to a usenet group? That would also eliminate the need for special purpose archiving and searching facilities since the site: http://groups.google.com would automatically provide that. That site also allows one to both read and post via the web (with a delay of several hours) in case one does not care to...
