unrequired headers (looping affect in NeXT)
In bsd-login.[hc] and login.c seems to have #include <utmp.h> that
are unneeded (and platforms with non-protected headers files trips on
them.)
Could I get a few people on different platforms remove them and see
if they cause any compiling issues it would make my life easier (and
less required #ifdef grabage).

I did a do-release-upgrade first to go from 20.04 to 22.04, and then updated my /etc/apt/sources.list.d/mjt.list to go from focal/samba-4.18 to jammy/samba-4.19. I also unmasked some services masked during upgrade.

How did you upgrade ?
If I remember correctly, both 20.04 and 22.04 come with 4.15.13 (latest
Samba version available), so could it be that the upgrade from 20.04 to
22.04 managed to install unrequired packages ?

asterisk as non-root/best practices
Hi,
I have set up asterisk to run as non root, and allow admin users to log
in to the server as asterisk, which gives them privileges to edit
configs in the asterisk home directory.
As for connecting to the console with 'asterisk -r' - this by default
does not work as asterisk is owned stored in /usr/sbin/asterisk
I am reading that the best way to solve this is to use 'visudo' -

[Bug 573] Don't include krb4 headers on a krb5 compile
...org.uk
Historical, the Kerberos code required a kerberos 4 define (KEYFILE), even when
just built to use Kerberos V. The code that required this was removed in
revision 1.86 of servconf.c, but the header fudge in the portable patch was
never removed.
The forthcoming attachment just removes these unrequired headers, and so allows
Kerberos V support to build on systems which don't have Kerberos IV libraries.
(Thanks to Buck Huppman for originally identifying the issue)

[PATCH 0/5] Allow multiple targets to be disabled
Hi,
This patchet allows a few targets to be disabled when unrequired.
The rational is coming from VLC's contrib buildsystem, so far we use make -C to select only some subparts of the available targets.
It would be easier and cleaner to use autoconf to do so IMHO.
There's an additional patch which fixes the build when building for WinRT/UWP platform, upstr...

I had already started this process, as I read on a post that deleting an option (or adding one) could possibly fix a corrupt database. I have now deleted all unrequired options.

Howto hide scsi or other hardware from the virtual system
Hi,
I have created a virtual system via xen and would like to strip some
unrequired virtual hardware from it.
Example: my virtual Windows system shows me a scsi PCI device (as
unknown device). I would like to get rid of it - I am only using IDE in
the virtual system.
How can I hide specific hardware from the virtual system?
Cheers,
Emre
