tweaking Passenger/Rack for performance.
so here are my unorganized thoughts on Passenger settings. * PassengerMaxPoolSize This depends a lot on two primary variables. a) How much RAM you have. b) How much resident memory is needed for your environments/modules. Only way to determine this is with tweaking, and you''ll need to be much more conservative tha...

new features
Hi All, I''m wondering if there is a resource where I can follow the new features in 1.0 easily. The list is too crowded, wiki is too unorganized, change log doesn''t look "convincing". Is there any site which follows rails development? Regards, Oyku.

Dealing with an EAV database
I''ve inherited an EAV database and there''s really no option to remodel it. Data is stored as key_name, key_value pairs Trying to return a meaningful, unified recordset is far too complex to be efficient. I''ve decided to make use of the MySQL GROUP_CONCAT, and CONCAT_WS functions to return a fast query result, with the consolidated fields as one string. The final data is

authentication against win 2003
I'm probably the umpteenth million person to ask questions about this... I'm trying to set up a linux box that would authenticate users against win2003. Here's what I need help on, in a somewhat unorganized fashion.... 1) There will be about 4000 accounts, only about 20 of them will need shells. Will I have to create entries in /etc/passwd for all of these users? Is there a way to only auth users against windows if they are in a certain group?- that way root and others will auth against /etc/p...

What is and what should never be
...adata what it will and passing the bitstream onto its respective decoder. This draws to light the current state of affairs of media under *IX environments. With no large corporation there to cram (god awful) standards down everyone's throats, everything seems to be incredibly disconnected and unorganized. I think this has become fairly obvious with the addition of vorbis support to many indivdual programs and dealing with the individual problems incurred therein. I'm not saying MCI is a good implementation, for assuredly it is not. But I believe the driving concept is sound. Is bringing som...

slow squat fts index creation
Hi all, ive been playing with squat indexes. Up to about 300.000 emails in a single mailbox this was working flawlessly. The search index file is about 500MB at that time. Ive now added some more emails, and at 450.000 or so emails im seeing a serious problem with squat index creation. It takes...f o r e v e r . The .tmp file is being so slowly, it will probably take 2-3 hours to create. Upto

libogg2 branch->trunk (deadline: 5/30)
Ok guys and gals Monty assigned me as libogg2 maintainer a few weeks ago, with the provision that I get consensus on API changes from everyone. In order to facilitate discussion, and to "move on" vs letting this stalemate hold development at a stand still, I'm setting an initial deadline of this comming Monday, May 30th. If nobody has a strong objection why these API changes

Replace Cisco IOS/CBOS with freebsd - possible?
Greetings, I'm RP for a fairly large chunk of IP real estate. I carved out a /27 segment for my home network. Which is currently running over a cisco 837 GW (adsl/router). I'm not really keen on it (the router/modem). So I thought to myself that it couldn't be /that/ hard to build a box with FBSD that could replace it - am I crazy? Wouldn't it be possible to upload a minimal build

[LLVMdev] Web Site Re-Design
I offered to do the web site a couple of weeks ago. Life got in the way temporarily, and it took me a long time to make it look the way that I wanted and to make it look the same in IE6. Anyway, I wanted to get some feedback on what I had done. Some concerns: 1. SSI and JavaScript seem like overkill. Each subproject can have their own look and feel by overriding the CSS

write random sampling as table output
...ld like to subsample each site randomly 1000 times and check if NMDS analysis reveals the same result or not. g <- read.table(file.choose(), header=T, row.names=1) rphyla <- replicate(100,sample(g)) but when I want to save as write.table(rphyla,"rphyla.txt) or csv. The output is really unorganized. V1 "V2" "V3" "V4" "V5" "V6" "V7" "V8" "V9" "V10" "V11" "V12" "V13" "V14" "V15" "V16" "V17" "V18" "V19" "V20&quot...
