Source code of early S versions
...; And two shameless plugs: > > 1. there is a chapter on the history of all this in my forthcoming book on "Extending R" That will sit nicely on the shelf next to "Extending The S System" that Allan Wilks gave me :) > PS: somehow "historical" would be less unnerving than "archeological" At least I didn't say palaeontological. Thanks for the response. Barry

Dropbox on CentOS 6?
Hi, I just spent a couple of unnerving hours trying to make Dropbox work on CentOS 6.6. Is there a way that 1. Actually works? 2. Doesn't include jumping through burning loops? Error on new install "View Application''s Environment"
...thing *seemed* to work fine, but when I clicked on the "View your Application''s Environment" link, this happens (screenshot attached): http://thegoban.com/rorerror.png Any ideas? Is this normal? I know it''s not actually stopping me from doing anything, but its a bit unnerving to not know why this is happening. Any help would be greatly appreciated :) Thanks! --Adrian -- Posted via http://www.ruby-forum.com/.

Director questions
...it. At this point, we've got servers operating as MTAs, servers doing IMAP/POP directly, and servers separately doing IMAP/POP as webmail backends. Works just dandy for our existing setup. But to director-ize all of them, I'm looking at a director ring of maybe 75-85 servers, which is a bit unnerving, since I don't know if the ring will be able to keep up. Is there a scale where it'll bog down? 2) If it is too big, is there any way, that I might be missing, to use remote directors? It looks as if directors have to live locally on the same box as the proxy. For my MTAs, where they...

HPLIP vs. CentOS
Hi, Our local school has recently acquired an HP PageWide Pro 477 professional printer. According to HP, the printer requires HPLIP 3.16.3 at least. Unfortunately, CentOS is only shipping HPLIP 3.15.9. So I downloaded and installed the hplip/hplipfull package from the HP site. Installing this thing and getting it to work is not exactly a trivial task, as I documented in my blog:

Problems with plot and Quartz device (PR#13744)
...n I end up with crowded plots). So I guess it might be related to the "special treatment" of "." described on help(points) ?? --- Value pch="." (equivalently pch = 46) is handled specially. It is a rectangle of side 0.01 inch (scaled by cex). --- I find this behaviour unnerving: the (resized) plots made it look as if there was a lot of structure in the data, but on closer inspection it turned out to be entirely a consequence of the quartz device and plot function! I can't imagine that this behaviour is intended - even if it were intended to suppress points (like s...

Baldur's Gate 2 randomly crashes ("Runtime error") with Wine-20041201
...II running. The installation sequence is fine, so is the main menu, character creation etc. The problem is, once inside the actual game, the application randomly crashes giving me: Runtime error c:\bg2\BGMain.exe abnormal program termination This happens often enough to render the gameplay quite unnerving. Especially when it happens 15 minutes after the last quicksave ;-) I haven't found out what makes the game crash. I'm quite sure it isn't a sound problem - I've turned sound off both in ~/.wine/config and in BGConfig.exe - not better at all. The only clue I've got is the mes...

HPLIP vs. CentOS

After a couple of unnerving hours I finally found the cause of the malfunction. Our printer has been set as the default printer. Now I recently added a second printer for the teachers room, accessible via wifi only. As soon as this printer has been setup, Simple Scan was looking for this printer's plugin. So my mist...

uninstall R on Kubuntu
Dear list,[a] now is apparently the time, the R version I have installed so far has reached its days' end.[a1] Back on R help mailing list-I have to admit openly-I was advised so under the impression of being unnerved on the part of the corresponding R expert responder to a certain degree by the question of mine whether there were any error messages or unresolved dependencies to expect associated with other R packages (perhaps missing thus far on the computer of interest) when one would simply un-compress comp...

I downloaded this version on Monday, Oct 3. About once every minute, I get this while at the CLI> prompt: sched.c:296 ast_sched_del: Attempted to delete nonexistent schedule entry 1! tune2fs options
Is there any way of making operations like dropping and adding a journal: tune2fs -O ^has_journal /dev/local/my_dev and tune2fs -o journal_data -j -J device=LABEL=my-journal-device /dev/local/my_dev more verbose? It would be nice to know what's going on, since just sitting there can be quite unnerving! problem with firefox
Just out of curiosity, has anyone noticed a problem that has developed with firefox? This started on both of my machines after the newest updates. I'll be at a website, even the mozilla website, and when I click on a link to go to another part of the site or to download a file, Firefox will just simply close. It's random for the most part, but it happened quite often at the sourceforge.net

Source code of early S versions
According to Wikipedia: "In 1980 the first version of S was distributed outside Bell Laboratories and in 1981 source versions were made available." but I've been unable to locate any version of S online. Does anyone have a copy, somewhere, rusting away on an old hard disk or slowly flaking off a tape? I've had a rummage round the CMU Statlib on archive.org but no sign of it,

389 Directory Server broken on CentOS 7
Le 15/08/2019 ? 14:51, Ulf Volmer a ?crit?: > Could you post the output of > > yum info 389-adminutil I just installed a vanilla CentOS 7.6 on a sandbox machine. Left configuration as is. Upgraded system : yum update. Configured EPEL without customizing anything. And all the 389-related packages installed successfully. So I guess the problem comes from my base configuration.
