samba will not work for me... :/
I've had this problem since FreeBSD 4.3. This problem continues with my
FreeBSD 4.4 machine.
I can't connect from my Win98se and Win2kPro machines to my FreeBSD 4.4 Samba
server.
I've tried it all... but still no luck.
I've run smbd and nmbd manually with the "-D" parameter. I can connect
internally from my FreeBSD 4.4 box using "./smbclient

win2k/samba problem
I am unable to see my samba server from my Win2k Pro machine.
Can someone please help me out? I had a problem with Samba early on. The
problem was resoved by removing TCP/IP from my Win2k machine and then
reinstalling TCP/IP. Now I've stumbled into this problem.

samba problems with FreeBSD
i'm trying to setup a PDC with my FreeBSD box.
i'm following the directions in "Samba Unleashed" by SAMS.
in it they mention the creation of a server user account.
this is the example they give:
useradd -c "Samba PDC fir MYDOMAIN" -M -s /bin/false -n PERSEUS$
other than the fact FreeBSD doesn't use useradd and that pw useradd doesn't
have a "-M"

profile problems with XP and my samba box
alright... before you guys nail the culprit as the reg issue... know that i
applied the reg fix right up front.
the system was working fine... i reinstalled XP last night. i was able to
connect to the PDC after the initial root login.
however, now it seems that things are going all wrong. i haven't changed any
settings on the samba server.
another thing i've noticed is that i cannot

i know this has to me a winxp pro issue.
i've installed the sign or seal patch.
i can see the "sol" domain, but when it comes to connecting to it, i can't. i
