[Bridge] [PATCHv4 net-next 0/2] Add two new flags to bridge.
The following series adds 2 new flags to bridge. One flag allows the user to control whether mac learning is performed on the interface or not. By default mac learning is on. The other flag allows the user to control whether unicast traffic is flooded (send without an fdb) to a given unicast port. Default is on. Changes since v4: - Implemented Stephen's suggestions. Changes since v2: -

UDP unicast network backend (QEMU)
In 2012 QEMU added UDP unicast network backend support https://github.com/qemu/qemu/commit/0e0e7facc775e9bb020314f48751b3d09f316c8b#diff-a0a1810b6e249e68f1a290e37399becb Checked latest libvirt on the git repo, and didn't see this as an option. So tried to use the mcast tunnel mode. I keep getting duplicate packets with BPDUs and LLDP packets going between the Point to point connection

multi-homed samba PDC and NetApp filers
We are having a problem getting a NetApp filer to re-join a samba domain after a move to a new network. The filer worked fine with samba before the move. Apologies in advance for the long missive. I've tried the following: - re-running the CIFS setup program on the filer - removing the problem filer's samba account, replacing it, and re-running the setup program on the filer

Unicast or Multicast?
if you read ahead you'll figure that the infrastructure of the network 'en gros' isn't made for it (yet). because of this (and not just because I am a fan of) I propose other trials with overlay networks which could (under proper application) even be more efficient than the multicast protocol(s) itself. Unicast or Multicast?
@Phil nice text... just want to mention (or better ask...) what the difference between a protocol which implements multiple connections simultaneously and a protocol implementing multiple connections by connection tracking? Hi buddylove, In addition to the links Philipp provided you, here is some more reading which will hopefully help you better understand the difference between multicast and unicast communications: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Multicast https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unicast Cheers, Jordan On 05/04/2016 06:39 AM, buddylove wrote: > @Phil > nice text... > just want to mention (or

Unicast or Multicast?
Oh, well by your "In the end... its the same..." statement and your question of what the difference is (and mentioning connection tracking which is a completely different subject), I was a bit confused as to your query. Multicast/Unicast
also, does unicast individually send out streams to each listener (requiring lots of bandwidth) or does it broadcast a stream and users can "tap in" (low bandwidth)? -------Original Message------- From: "Dan Chokola (webmail)" <teckyd at earthlink.net> Sent: 02/28/03 10:46 PM To: icecast at xiph.org Subject: [icecast] Multicast/Unicast > > what does icecast use?

iproute2: gatewayed routes in ancillary tables
Hello all, Tomas Bonnedahl and I recently corresponded about a rather odd behaviour with routes in ancillary routing tables. We both receive a "Network is unreachable" error when we try to add gatewayed routes to ancillary tables and the main routing table does not contain an entry for the gateway IP. It seems that unless a route to the gateway IP exists in the main routing table, I

WINS server (nmbd) puzzle
My client Windows XP boxes are failing to register with my WINS server (running nmbd from Samba). I'm puzzled how to figure out what I'm doing wrong. Background: I'm setting up BackupPC to back up my Windows clients using rsync. I've installed cwRsync to the clients. BackupPC uses nmblookup to find the client's IP address given its Windows NETBIOS name. I'm

WINS unicast name restration storm
We recently migrated to an active directory controlled domain with the old linux pdc becoming just a member of the new domain. It previously had served as the WINS server. The WINS server settings update was missed on a few printers and these printers continued sending unicast name registration requests to the linux server. With over 300 requests per second being sent from these printers, it came

So configuration: NT----PPTP---NT/RAS-----Linux 7 Any experience with this type of config? Quick test shows the samba host but when I try to access it the network path is not found. Thanks! ++Dirk
