Migrate CentOS 3 to 4 to 5?
Hi, After the previous debacle with PHP and MySQL it has been decided that we think about an upgrade from CentOS 3 to 5, since that would solve our problem, if successful. I tried finding information on how to best attempt this, but thanks to a plethora of contradictory information my head is now spinning with a few rpm (rounds per minute). The situation is as follows: Remote box at our

[LLVMdev] Compile error in InstrSelectionSupport.cpp
ISSUE: line 474 of InstrSelectionSupport.cpp is a conditional expression of the form (<expr> ? (ConstantSInt*) : (ConstantUInt*)), which is an unholy mixture of pointer types. Alright folks, after nearly a month of pounding and beating up the Mongrel 1.0 RC1 release we''re putting out the official 1.0.1 release. Read all about it at the (much funnier) news posting: http://mongrel.rubyforge.org/news.html For those people in a hurry, the gems should hit the mirrors and you can install using your usual commands. Refer the the above page for more help.

[LLVMdev] please review this fix for PR3510
Please review this patch for PR3510 (and <rdar://problem/6564697>). The bug is a failure to handle a "hole" inside an initialized structure, where the hole may be induced by a designated initializer or by alignment: http://llvm.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=3510 The original code was greatly simplified by using FieldNo to index the LLVM fields and the initializer in

Re : Wiki: Howtos/Virtualization/HyperV
Hello Ozy, having used Hyper-V for about two years, ever since it was 'published' in it's pre-release version immediately after release of Windows 2008 Server, I'm very glad you found the time to write a Wiki article on the issue. I remember the time drifts in particular, and wasting two whole days troubleshooting the problem until I finally got it resolved - and at that

forwarding
Greetings All. I wonder if it's possible to implement unix-domain-socket forwarding in opnessh. It might very useful since "namespace" for unix sockets is much bigger than for tcp ports and it would be easier to avoid any "name" clashes. In fact such implementation already exists as agent forwarding so what is my wish is to be able to specify local and remote socket name

Re: Font issue in Half-Life 2 via Wine 1.3.0
Of course, the side(WOW Gold (http://www.storeingame.com/)) effect of this change is that it's a huge hit to leveling (RuneScape Gold (http://www.rsfarming.com))death knights. Preliminary tests suggest that blood is a lot, lot closer to the other trees in survivability now, and I'm back to needing to do a decent amount of eating even as a leveling blood (Aion Gold

IO.read - binary by default?
Hi all, I''m sick of hitting bugs in 3rd party libs where the issue is that the authors didn''t do a binary read on the data. It''s hard to track down sometimes and it currently makes creating cross-platform code more difficult. Is there *any* downside to making IO.read binary by default (on Windows) that anyone can think of? Thanks, Dan

The problem with the segfault appears to have indeed been with alloca. There is a function _alloca in libgcc.a that comes with the mingw32 distribution of gcc-2.95.2. After examining the generated assembly code from envelope.c (and others),

read-only file system when trying to save files
I have installed emacs with yum and now I'm trying to create a .emacs file and put some commands in it, but I can't type anything in the emacs buffer. It says the buffer is read-only. I exited emacs and did touch .emacs and I get a message that it can't do that on a read-only file system. I googled around to see why this might be, but I can't see any links on this. Any tips why

What's an Enterprise class OS
Hi all, One of the concepts we see arise on the forums time and time again that's poorly understood is the concept of an Enterprise Class OS and everything that involves. I think it would be of benefit to have a one stop page to point users to that explains the concepts and provides the information required. Much of this content already exists on the Wiki but it is scattered over many

File locks when restarting smb
Hi, Is there a known problem with file locks when Samba restarts? I have several servers happily running Samba on RH Linux, and several hundred clients running M$ Win9x. There are always a large number of open files, and I am currently migrating the data off several NT servers and onto the Samba ones. This has meant changing the smb.conf file on a regular basis. I am restarting Samba using
