The Phantom Call..
My system seems to be generating a call on its own... Unfortuately I can't give much more information..
I have an X100P and an S100U..
My Modem and the X100P share a common line.. When I am on the internet (which is most of the day) * just sits there and does nothing (apart from when I am testing ideas for the dial plan), but at night when I am sleeping...

Hi All
Well, it looks like I run into the same problem as many others...
Unfortuately the FAQ referenced in the mailinglist archive with the solution
does not seam to be online anymore.
What I did try:
rpm --import /usr/share/rhn/RPM-GPG-KEY*
rpm --import /usr/share/doc/centos-release-3.3/RPM-GPG-KEY
And also:
rpm --import http://mirror.centos.org/centos/3.1/i386/RPM-GPG-KE...

AOPA RTFP, XSetDashes, Hatches not implemented, Easy fix?
...equest: 63199
Current serial number in output stream: 70195
I don't actually care if the line style is exactly the same as windows,
but it seems like the odd pen style is screwing up setting the dashes
in X. This seems like it might be a really simple thing to fix for
someone with a clue. Unfortuately, I lack clue wrt to wine development.
The program is available from http://www.aopa.org/flight_planner/
However, you need an AOPA account to login. I'm happy to run any tests
for anyone that's interested in exploring this issue.
Thanks,
Rick Niles.

Please help with advise on wine storage
Hi everyone,
I have a small problem. I bought a bottle of red wine from my home outside the UK. It is a gift for a professor who I much admire. Unfortuately I have not been able to get to her office in the last month so I had to store the wine in my bedroom. It is in a box etc and of course I am storing it lying down however I am worried that with the current weather of having 20 - 25 degrees outside in the last 1 -2 weeks, the wine might be gone...

Making password driven SSH 'immune' to MTM attacks.
...sswords are well understood, by both crypto/security heads and by the
common man. Often passwords are not a very good form of authentication,
because of their very nature. However, due to their simplicity many orgs
have developed sufficently secure methods of establishing and protecting
passwords. Unfortuantly, when using passwords with SSH you are fairly
vulnarable to a Man-in-the-middle attack. SSH provides some basic
protection against this in the form of saved host keys. Unfortunatly, this
is insufficent as the network could be comprimised before inital
connection, and often users will just '...

Powercom Black Night 600AP UPS Serial Cable Pinout
Hi there!
I just recently got a nice new UPS to power most of my computer
equipment, and having it working perfectly under NUT. However, I had
a perfectly good Powercom Black Night 600AP UPS, which I'm now
trying to get to power my internet gateway. Unfortuantly, due to
not thinking on my part, I threw away the original serial cable.
I have tried a straight - through cable, and the one listed at
http://pinouts.ru/DevicesCables/powercom_cable_pinout.shtml to no
success, on both NUT and using the UPSMON software for FreeBSD
and Windows, all on differen...

Corresponding to the exact time of the problem. Google wasn't much help, but it only occurred to me now, that I don't have any large files on one, and I don't have ane small files on the other, so both my problems might be interrelated...
Unfortuantly I accidentally took off the bind interface only parameter on the other machine and it got glogged up with a whole bunch of stray, but while I'm looking and while I'm testing a movie from the other machine to see if they have the same effect, anyone know what causes the error on Debian...

Tru64 Unix vs. OpenSSH 2.9p2
...ate /etc/utmp.
I believe the problem is in server_loop2() in serverloop.c. When
the ssh connection is terminated abruptly, one falls out of the
input processing loop and tries to clean up. There is a loop that
"wait"s for child processes to die, and terminates the associated
sessions. Unfortuately, the "wait" uses the WNOHANG flag, so any
session associated with a child that has not exited is just ignored.
Since the logout bookkeeping code is invoked through session_close(),
that means /etc/utmp is not updated. (The child process, in this case
a login shell, exits after sshd...

Zigor Ebro 650 compatibility
...en installed the Upsilon s/w on my Windows XP laptop (which works
effectively, even if it looks a bit 'old-school'..)
I did take some comfort in seeing references to 'Megatec(USB)' in the
Upsilon software configuration...
I ran USBSniff against the port whilst attaching the UPS. Unfortuately,
I couldn't make much sense of the verbose USBSniff output, but if this
is useful for debugging (for Arnaud?) I could share it.
With suitable guidance, I'm happy to devote time to helping get this UPS
working under NUT - I'd hate to have to build a Windows box just to
monitor...

IOMMU/AMD-Vi not working after XSA-36 with 970A-UD3
Dear mailinglist,
I own a Gigabyte motherboard GA 970A UD3 with IOMMU support. Since the
update XSA-36 (also part of the latest debian wheezy pkg), the
IO-Virtualisation does not work any more as discussed on this
mailinglist [0] and [1].
I like to ask, if there is an "official" solution in sight.
I''m not sure about my alternatives. How "dangerous" is the

how to NULL multiple variables of a df efficiently?
Dear R-helpers:
I am an R novice and would appreciate answer to the following question.
Want to delete many variables in a dataframe.
Am able to delete one variable by assigning it as NULL
Have a large number of variables and would like to delete them without using
a for loop.
Is there a command/function which does this job?
Many thanks in advance.

Tiny Network-Problem with Office Software
Hi,
I am having some trouble to some Office software with wine. The Program itself starts without problems and runs quite fine. But unfortunatly I am not able to connect to our local Datebase. My Ubuntu Linux itself doesnt seem to have any problems in connecting to the server (but I admit that I don't know how to check if I can access the port 5143 that is used to connect to the database.).
The faq told me that I should use hostna...

[PATCH 4/6] xen: export NUMA topology in physinfo hcall
This patch modifies the physinfo hcall to export NUMA CPU and Memory
topology information. The new physinfo hcall is integrated into libxc
and xend (xm info specifically). Included in this patch is a minor
tweak to xm-test''s xm info testcase. The new fields in xm info are:
nr_nodes : 4
mem_chunks : node0:0x0000000000000000-0x0000000190000000

Rails/Windows Guru Needed
Hey All,
I''ve just got back from a great meeting with a potential new client.
Everything was going so well - I knocked back their old-school project
plans, sold Rails to them in less than 5 minutes. All cool.
Then, 5 minutes before the end they say ''Oh and by the way - I know we
said we''re happy to host on any platform suitable, but there''s been a

connected to it.
With your help I managed to do it. While printing, the files go to
/var/spool/lpd/brotherlp directory and then to the remote printer.
While the Windows machine with the printer is up, everything is OK .
Unfortunately, when that computer is down, I get a message (via mail):
'Your printer job (NameOfThePrintedFile) could not be printed'
and that's all. The printed file is still in the spool directory, but while
calling: 'lpq-lpd -Pbrotherlp' to see if there is anything in the queue I
