Error indexing mbox file /var/mail/seb: LF not found where expected
...:53 dev imap(seb): Error indexing mbox file /var/mail/seb:
LF not found where expected
I just installed version dovecot-0.99.12.1 for the first time on
FreeBSD 4.10 stable. This error occurs when I try to check my mail
from a remote client and I have new messages. Here is my
configuration:
http://unf.be/dovecot.conf
It's very close to the default install. In attempts to remedy the
problem, I set "mail_read_mmaped = no", but the problem persists.
I'm not sure if it's relevent, but I'm receiving mail with postfix and
my mail file has lines that end with \r\n
Thanks in...

Hello list
The Samba Howto Collection repeatedly asserts that by setting the sticky
bit on directories any files created in those directories will be created
with the owner set to that of the directory (for example, see
http://samba.mirror.ac.uk/samba/docs/man/howto/AccessControls.html#id2541262).
This has never worked for me. Files created inherit the group of the
directory, but not the owner.

Does Ruby 1.9 support Unicode normalization yet?
In the process of upgrading from 1.8 to 1.9 we are getting a lot of
warnings about "Ruby 1.9 doesn''t support Unicode normalization yet".
However the commit that added those lines is from 2008 and just
mentions "Ruby 1.9 compat: no Unicode normalization support yet"
without any references. Does anyone know whether this is still true
for ruby 1.9 and for which minor

to be picked up by later reads. this is the documented behavior of
fgets(). how long is too long? the buffer is sized at 1024 chars.
one char is needed for the null terminator, another one for the
newline. so anything longer than 1024-2 = 1022 bytes is too big.
unf readconf.c as written just naively assumes that fgets() returns the
entire line. it makes no attempt to deal with the case where the line
didn't entirely fit. so basically, a long line is treated as multiple
lines. this is true whether the line was a comment or something else.

BackupExec Agent on Samba
Is there an improved BackupExec Unix agent available that works with Samba?
If not, can someone tell me how to work around the lack of the archive bit
that Linux has? In particular, RedHat Linux 7.2 is the system I'm looking
for help on.
I found the following hints in an older version of this newsletter, Samba
Digest, Vol. 3, Issue 34, sent March 21, 2003, that had this in it:

how much has performance improved since 2.x?
Greetings,
I was curious if the 3.x glusterfs has made any significant write
performance headway (especially when dealing with small files). Last
time I was testing 2.x, I had to write glusterfs off due to poor
performance (previous config/performance-stats can be accessed in list
archives if curious). Did anyone notice *dramatic* improvement when
switching to 3.x?
Thanks,
Michael

2) Including C header files is fraught with difficulties. Unfortunately
that includes the R header files, because they in turn include system C
headers.
The checking of which features were available was done using the C
compiler with particular flags, and glibc has a habit of hiding features
depending on the flags set. So a C header called from the C++...

Re-exporting an NFS mount.. Possible?
I have an issue that is not all that unique, so I'm hoping someone has
done it before.
On the client end I have some very old RedHat based systems. On the
server end is a Windows 2008 system running NFS server software. The
clients mount the server resource as an NFS2 mount but some compliance
issues were discovered with the setup. For various reasons, updating
the client is not an option at

R help-classification accuracy of DFA and RF using caret
...as the script does not contain code to get this data. I think I need to use the caret package to obtain the classification accuracy, but I keep getting error messages when I apply the train function to my data. As I am relatively new to R and my thesis committee is unable to help as they are also unfamiliar with R, I thought it best to ask for help. Would someone be willing to help me?
Thanks,

P2Vs seem to require a very robust Ethernet
Now that we can gather diagnostic info, I think I know why our P2Vs kept
failing last week. Another one just died right in front of my eyes. I
think either the Ethernet or NFS server at this site occasionally
"blips" offline when it gets busy and that messes up P2V migrations.
The RHEV export domain is an NFS share offered by an old Storagetek NAS,
connected over a 10/100 Ethernet.
