MOAB advisories
Hi Colin! I would like to know, that these following "vulnerabilities" does affect FreeBSD's reliability? If the answer is "yes", what version of FreeBSD affected, when will be fixed, etc. http://projects.info-pull.com/moab/MOAB-12-01-2007.html http://projects.info-pull.com/moab/MOAB-10-01-2007.html Thank you! -- kobi

Samba/Cups issues across a network
...files on to the Win2K system for printing out. If, on the central server itself, I use an lp command to send a file directly to the CUPs server, it works fine and the file will be printed out. And like I mentioned I can browse files on the server from other computers on my network. So, too my uneducated eyes, this appears to be possibly some sort of authentication problem between the Samba server and the Cup's server? If so, how can I trace it down to figure out exactly why such a problem is occurring? Another item of interest is that when I send a file from some computer on my network, t...

Why is Sieve trying to re-compile global scripts?
...eating/recompiling them even without an email delivery in between seems to fix the error. Might be unpredictable caching. Might be the error didn't go away last time I recreated due to different methods of creating the files. Who knows, I think I should give up and stop spamming the list with uneducated guesswork.

tinc to create VPN between cluster nodes (at different datacenters) for High Availability
I've not really dug into testing tinc yet, but if you all will humor me in an uneducated blast of questions, I'd appreciate it. What can you do to keep tinc going if your high availability comes from cluster nodes being dispensable? Can tinc run on the cluster nodes? That seems like chicken/egg problem though to get tinc server installed and cluster nodes brought up... If tinc nee...

hdt error on syslinux 6.0.4-pre1?
...nd to have a different perspective about the behavior presented in VMs. Instead of immediately thinking that the VM software should be updated (which is a perfectly-valid point too), we should rather take its behavior as "it is probably happening in some real hardware too". My (wild, UNeducated) assumption / guess: developers are testing hdt.c32 (just as other parts of Syslinux) mostly in network-booting scenarios, and much less (or not at all) tested / developed under other situations. If Erwan doesn't show up, it would be beneficial if some other developer takes a look at HDT i...

About R variable references
...but eventually the system gets confused. It seems that the SEXP references to the state variables and to the callback functions may get altered and become pointing to some other variables. This will then rightfully give me the error messages like "attempt to apply non-function". My (maybe uneducated) guess is that this might have something to do with R memory management. The variables are connected to the namespace so a do not think they are removed. Maybe they are moved is such a way that my SEXP references are not able to follow. As you can see I am on thin ice here so please feel welcome to...

Generic UPS driver

Maybe Dan, the maintainer of the nutdrv_qx driver, has better insight on this, but my uneducated guess is that I don't think it is Megatec/Qx. The logs don't show any commands going down to the UPS, just Interrupt Read requests to EP1IN. It definitely won't be covered by stock usbhid-ups either, although it does implement the bare minimum of the USB HID protocol. (The usbhid-ups d...

ISDN TBCT....
Greetings, This may be a bit arcane but does anyone know what the contents of a facility message should be for initiating a TBCT on an NI2 ISDN. I've been trying to get it to work on a DMS100 for the last four months to no avail. The message I am currently sending makes it to the switch but is returned with unknown message. Perhaps someone here has done it before and can help me out.

Generic UPS driver
Hi, I just bought a cheap UPS and apparently I'm hitting the same issue that's described here: http://comments.gmane.org/gmane.comp.monitoring.nut.user/6146 Mine is a different brand: "Kanji" which appears to be the argentinian dealler for some generic chinese manufacturer. My model is also 800VA and identified in the same way, so maybe is the same UPS under a different brand:

Inefficient storing of ISO images with compress=lzo
I''ve noticed that: - with x86-64 Fedora 15 DVD install images: - du -sh <ROOT VOLUME> was 36 GB - btrfs df | grep -i data have shown over 40 GB used - without - du -sh <ROOT VOLUME> is 34 GB - btrfs df | grep -i data have shown less then 34 GB used It seems that iso files are considered compressable while they may not be (and penalty is severe - 3x). CPU Scheduling allocates more time for few threads
Hi ? ? ?I have a Virtual Machine with CentOS 7 64-bit having 6 CPUs (intel). I have a process with 10 threads. two threads of the process pinned to two CPU's using affinity. These threads processes lot of network messages via Sockets. Other threads wait for other events using pthread condition wait. When two threads CPU reaches 75 to 80% then the schedular, schedules most of the time for those

Yesterday I started to test the currenr RCs. First I was disappointed, because the error see...

TCP/UDP broken checksums redux (with UDP workaround)

score for wildcard searches
Hello All, I have a rails app that maintains movie data index and uses "acts_as_ferret" for search. I ran into an issue with the scoring of wildcard searches. When I search for word "super*", the record containing the word "superman" is ranked above the one having just "super". Is this normal or am I missing something? Any ideas on how scoring can be
