Specifying a fixed uid for RedHat RPM PrivSep user
I'm a little unconfortable with the way the privsep user is created in
the RedHat spec files. In particular the way a fixed UID is specified.
Now it looks (from a glance at the apache/bind spec file) that it is
'the way it is done' - but is there a register of these numbers
somewhere?

dovecot lost mail! Cause?
Hi,
After using dovecot for several years now, today happend something which
makes me really feel unconfortable: An email received was just not
delivered properly, or, is lost! The mail (from an external server) was
sent to two local mailboxes, user1 and user2. user1 received the message
but for user2, it *magically* disappeared.
MTA is exim4 which definitely processed the messages and handed over to
doveco...

How to log a Sieve match in Dovecot debug_log
Hi Volker!
This is what I wanted to avoid with my question. I reported my script with only three word just to make an example but my list is quite longer than this. Let's suppose a list of 30 or 40 words... 30 or 40 rules? Possible but very unconfortable to manage.
A more compact version of the script could be this:
-- the script begins ------------
require ["fileinto", "imap4flags", "editheader", "body", "vnd.dovecot.debug"];
if anyof (
body :text :contains [

SIP / Echo Cancellation
...irst you gotta understand why echo occurs. Every single call you've ever made on your life has echo. You can hear yourself when you're speaking. If that was not the case, it would feel like talking on a push-to-talk system. So echo is a natural and even desirable phenomenom. What makes echo unconfortable is when the echo is *delayed* too much.
There's a number of causes for this to happen. First and foremost, sometimes a part of the signal you're transmitting is reflected back to you. That usually happens on the analog part of the system (analog phones as a whole, the handset of an IP phon...

Latest CVS: small portability issues
Hi!
I just run a test build of the latest CVS on HP-UX 10.20 and found two
issues, both related to the new mdoc2man.pl support:
- In Makefile.in, line 122, the construction
$(MANPAGES): %.out: %
is used. HP's "make" command does not understand this syntax (gmake does).
- In configure, the first "perl" command in the PATH seems to be found.
On HP-UX this is an

One font has changed
...hanged the value of the size font changing this value:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Hardware Profiles\Current\Software\Fonts]
"LogPixels"=dword:00000052 (instead of 60).
After that wine uses a very weird font (that I use in design jobs) to show the programs which is quite unconfortable. I've tried to find out how to change it back without reinstalling wine but haven't successed yet.
Could anyone give me a hand with this?
Thanks a lot!

nls, convergence and starting values
"in non linear modelling finding appropriate starting values is
something like an art"... (maybe from somewhere in Crawley , 2007) Here
a colleague and I just want to compare different response models to a
null model. This has worked OK for almost all the other data sets except
that one (dumped below). Whatever our trials and algorithms, even
subsetting data (to check if some singular

How to log a Sieve match in Dovecot debug_log
Hi everybody!
I manage a mail server running Dovecot 2.2.21 with Pigeonhole 0.4.10. I successfully configured sieve and use it also to filter some spam messages. Here is one of the script I use to filter messages on the basis of prohibited words in message body.
As you can see, the last command writes to the log the action of this script.
-- the script begins ------------
