Will Xen support PCI add-on card for serial ports?
hi,
It looks that Xen currently only support ISA serial port, which is onboard.
Is there any plan to support the PCI serial port?
Thanks,
Neo

centos vs rhel vs scientific linux
...L, so obviously i want to mention what centos is
all about. in a nutshell, it's simply RHEL with any RH-proprietary
branding removed, yes? what's the simplest way to sum up the
difference in a sentence or two?
and i've never used SL but, again as i understand it, it's also RHEL
unbranded but, IIRC, SL is more open to producing updates, whereas
centos is rigourous about tracking the corresponding RHEL version.
does that sound about right?

G729 Transcoding problems
Hi
I've bought the Digium g729 codec and have installed it correctly (I think)
>> voip*CLI> show g729
>> 0/0 encoders/decoders of 3 licensed channels are currently in use
if I do an echo test either from a sip Cisco 7960 or another hard phone (unbranded)
using g729 it sometimes works and sometimes the announcement about the
test (echo-test.gsm) fails part way though but the test continues to work ie I can hear the echo test - if Asterisk
doesn't crash first!
If I place a call from the Cisco phone or other phone using g729 / SIP into my *...

From my point of view, Red Hat doesn't really sell software. They give

typically in an unbranded release.? What Red Hat sells is support.
I don't mean helpdesk style "support-me-when-something-breaks" support.?
Support isn't something that exists only during incidents, support is a
relationship. It's periodic meetings with your account manager and
engineers. It'...

Reccomendation for reliable handsets
Hi there
I'm sure this question has been raised a number of times before, but
unfortunately I do not have direct access to the archives
I am about to roll out Asterisk to a few companies and would like to hear
your experiences about the various handsets/phones that are Asterisk
compatible
I am primarily looking for 2 options, the first being a cheaper model which
will provide reliability

Dom0 hang on SuSE 9.3 IA64
I''m having problems booting Dom0 on an unbranded server.
Server is running SuSE 9.3 x86_64 and has been working fine for a couple
of years as a standard boot pc. I installed the 2.0.5c version of Xen
which is part of the SuSE repository. I cannot boot into Xen though,
booting Dom0 stops after:

PCI modems
Hi all,
I'm currently searching for a PCI modem that will be used to receive faxes. I've tried out a few modems but they all use conexant chipsets, which need out-of-tree kernel drivers and currently doesn't work here (kernel oops when the installation script modprobes the driver).
Does anyone know of a PCI modem that works out of the box with in-tree kernel drivers?
Thanks,

contained less than their advertised amount of storage.
That leaves the question of what is going on under the

I subscribe (pay) for a lot of things personally. Music, Movies, Anti

But for my business, I do not want to pay Red Hat, Zimbra, or Google Workspace.
Why ?
Because the general rule seems to be
Oh! You are an individual, we will offer you affordable/free service
What! You are a business, we will offer you extremely 'unaffordable' service.

Hi,
I'm not so far, by now, of publicly releasing the next version of our
web site which is extensively using Xapian, so I thought it was time to
say "thank you" by adding in the footer and in the "credits" page of my
site the Xapian logo with a link back to the Xapian web site.
I was surprised to discover how hard it was for me to find how to do...

different network than the Asterisk server. Should I look into using
STUN servers? Will this setup be a
