HEADSUP: USB da(4) quirks disabled for 4.9 and 5.2
If you have any of the devices listed below, please test with a recent
-stable or -current. They will stop working in 4.9 and 5.2 although old
behavior can _temporarily_ be enabled by adding "options DA_OLD_QUIRKS" to
your kernel config. If I don't hear from anyone, they'll be going away
permanently after the releases.

WinDbg?
Hello,
I have been struggling with WinDbg/Kd for the last week, but to no avail... So I finally decided to ask here.
Basically, I am using a Windows XP virtual machine (thanks to VMWare6) and wanted to do some kernel debugging using Windbg. So, I did configure everything from the virtual machine side (using this guide: http://silverstr.ufies.org/lotr0/windbg-vmware.html), and then tried my hands

Trying to boot a SSD of 500GB
Hi,
I have a custom linux system that runs off a FAT32 usb flash disk. I
use syslinux to make it bootable and load the kernel.
I'm trying to boot now from a SSD SATA disk (500GB) but it's not
working and I can't figure out why. BIOS show that no bootable disk
were found.
What I already tried (linux fdisk):
1- Creating a new DOS partition table on the SSD, a FAT32 (type b),

Best way to embed dynamic content....
Sorry for the newbie question here....
I''ve got a project that might be just right for RoR and to help me learn
about it more. It''s a travel site, with some admin / user functionality
that pretty much matches up with the agile dev with rails book and
tutorials. The only part that I''m not sure the best way to do is they
want to embed some dynamic areas within the

Asterisk@home with Wildcard TDM400P card.
Hi all,
I posted this to the list yesterday, but not sure it made it.
I'm running the latest Asterisk@home release, and am trying to install a
Wildcard TDM400P with one FXS port and one FXO port. Linux see's the card
during the start up ( I think) but when I modprobe for the card it's not
being seen.
Has anyone successfully added a TDM400P to a Asterisk@home .03 ???

Asterisk@home and Zap Channels
Hi all,
I've been all over the Asterisk@home site and all through the configs, and
I can't find how to create extensions that will use the zap channel. Sip
phones I can find, but no way to assign a extension number to the phone I
plug into the TDM400P card.
Am I just missing something?

unexpected behavior when "modified outside"
Hi,
I am using smbmount (3.0.0) on a debian GNU/Linux computer to mount a
Windows 98 folder. I edit C++ files from the Linux computer and compile
them on the Windows computer with VC++ 6.0.
What I don't understand is the different behavior between when a file is
edited with an external editor on windows (let's say wordpad) and when
edited with an external editor via Samba (let's say

Trying to boot a SSD of 500GB
Yes, I tried to dd the mbr.bin and use both --install and --stupid parameters.
The FAT32 partition is bootable.
Here is what I did:
$ sudo fdisk /dev/sda -l
Disk /dev/sda: 500.1 GB, 500107862016 bytes
255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 60801 cylinders, total 976773168 sectors
Units = sectors of 1 * 512 = 512 bytes
Sector size (logical/physical): 512 bytes / 4096 bytes
I/O size (minimum/optimal):

Integrating * with Mitel SX2000 Lite
Hi All,
Our experience with * to date has been a bit limited. It's a 4xCisco
7960 network, linking our head office with a faraday caged datacenter.
As a way of putting voicecomms into a sealed room, it was quick and easy
to deploy, and works very well. As typically happens, we've now thought
about extending the use of asterisk - and a new opportunity has cropped
up. In three months

Asterisk@Home 0.3 and the Wildcard TDM400P
Hi all,
I have been experimenting with getting the Asterisk@Home 0.3.iso to see
the Wildcard TDM400P card.
I can see card being probed in the start up, but fails (most likely due to
my having the FXO/FXS mods in the wrong place), when I try to modprob the
card it flunks, but ztcfg -vv see's the card, but complains about the
signaling being set wrong, again FXO/FXS mods may be out of

What do I need to fix to get this running?
I am trying to get Stronghold Kingdoms to run
Running ubuntu 10.04 and wine 1.3.31
I have installed and updated the game. Now when it starts it gets stuck in a checking for updates loop (it checks, then tries something else, and checks again etc)
I get the following:

bandwidth shaping
Hey all, sorry if this has been asked before, but I haven?t really found a good solution. I have a mac at home and randomly, maybe once a week or once a month, Mail.app will go crazy and use as much bandwidth as I have to pull down mail. I?m not home so I can?t tell what it?s done or why, and sometimes it stops after an hour, sometimes it goes all night, leaving me with a potentially big
