I just tried to install CentOS 4.0 on a computer with a spare card and as usual both HDD attached to the RAID1 controller are seen separately by the installer because the specific driver for the TX2000 wasn't loaded. Does anyone have this card working in hardware RAID mode? I can see the individual ATA drivers when booting. The promise site has drivers for Redhat 7.3,8 and 9, but nothing for higher. I see the source code, and can build the module, but I need it loaded at boot time. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. Sean

What kind of implementation software or hardware is recommended for ide Raid 1 with ext3? Some controllers from Promise like their new FastTrak TX2000 look nice. But won't I be tied into the kernel version that is only supported under their drivers? Is ide software Raid stable and fast with ext3 for a production system? Thanks in advance. Aaron Lopez

Hi, One of my CentOS 4 server is a repository for backups for other machines. In this server, there is a 3ware RAID card and 2 HDD for the OS + data of this server. I also have 2 drawers (each containing one 200GB hdd), connected to a promise TX2000 card. One disk will remain in the server and one will be taken outside. What would be the best strategy for syncing the hdd when I swap them? Note: I don't want to do hot swap. No problem putting this server down once a week. It is a development server. ...HEL ? I have seen that only SATA is supported on the RHEL hardware compatibility list. The other ATA raid cards seems not to be compatible. They give source code and promise grants compatibility with RedHat 8 and 9 but not RHEL. I would like to know if somebody tried a ATA raid card like Fasttrack TX2000, SX4000, Fasttrack 100 TX2, etc.. If you could share me your experience it would be great. My provider says that he had some bad experiences about that cards and he doesn't allow me to use CentOS on his promise cards he provides (only), so I cannot have RAID on my server... it's a shame.....
