installing with yum
...www.asterisk.org/downloads/yum ) The problem is that no examples nor sounds where installed. I'm afraid something else is missing and Astrisk won't work properly. Can anybody advice me on how to install the rest of the Asterisk ? add-ons and other stuff ? ...re in the internet, nor in Digium.com docs, blogs, or whatever, anybody mention that yum install is available ? Why nobody ever make a small note telling that asterisk is available from repositories to install, and that is so easy ? Can anybody explain that to me ? That pesky udial.wav again...
I finally got RC3 built on my home machine (had to sneakernet in a tarball of libcurl to get it to build :-( ) and started testing it out on the range of quality levels, side by side with lame using it's range of vbr quailty modes. Overall, it sounds pretty good, but I haven't really tested a good range yet, as I ended up starting on udial.wav... vorbis handles it ok up to quality 3,

How to choose quality
Hi I made a CD-backup with cdparanoia | oggenc and I tried to use different values of -q listening to the effect by cdparanoia | oggenc -o - | mplayer -. The best quality was 8 -- why? OT: Perfect Pitch
I won't bother quoting all of Moz's statements of how sound is interpreted by those blessed/cursed with tape recorders in their heads :) I will add that his whole explanation of perfect pitch perception easily offers an explanation as to why some individuals will only archive flac/pac/ape (Moz - do you?) and those of us that do not perceive that level of detail and are fine using ogg
