Are there any current, in play plans, to multi-thread rsync?
I am looking for an enhancement to multi-thread or parallelize rsync. Are there any plans that would allow one to set a parameter, like 'number_of_threads' and rsync will ship multiple files at the same time? Reproducible Printer Properties PANIC in Samba 3.0.22-25 (CIFS/9000 A2.03.01)
...not all that clear), and running all of this on an HP-UX 11.11 PA-RISC server. The problem I have is when I do a right-click on a mapped printer and ask for the properties, my connected daemon crashes. I have attached both a level 3 log of the process as it is happening, as well as the output of a tusc run against the process (tusc is basically the same as truss/strace) and a gdb backtrace (though I'm not sure the latter is useful at all). I cannot find a core file anyplace. I'd love some help here. It almost looks as if there is a problem somewhere underlying in my .tdb's to me. Per...

too many close calls for non-opened fds
Hello All, I'm using OpenSSH 4.3p2 in HP-UX 11.23. On running tusc (a tool to trace system calls and signals) on sshd, I found lot of close calls upto 2047. Those close calls try to close a non-opened file descriptor and results in an error. This behaviour is seen only from OpenSSH 3.9 where closefrom() call is introduced to close the file descriptors before r...

Trouble with Samba 2.2.2 under HPUX (high cpu utilization)
Hello, I have been tracking down a cause for some abnormal CPU utilization with samba. It appears after looking at glance plus that samba is spending the majority of its time (like around 75-80%) doing lstat system calls. When I used tusc I discovered that it appears to be looking for a file /tmp/.winbindd which I am assuming is the unix domain socket for winbind. However this system is not compile with winbindd as it wasnt supported under HPUX 11 in 2.2.2 and I dont really have a need for it. All of our unix users have identica...

Compilation of 1.1.6 fails on HP-UX 11.31
Hi, $ uname -srv HP-UX B.11.31 U $ cc --version cc: HP C/aC++ B3910B A.06.20 [May 13 2008] Compilation fails, output of configure and make are given below. The cause of this is almost certainly that this version of HP-UX does define the QCMD macro in sys/quota.h (checked in the ifdef line 26 dovecot-1.1.6/src/plugins/quota/quota-fs.h) as well as the dqblk struct, but the latter with different

OpenSSH is not asking for passwords.
I am trying to use shfs to mount a remote root filesystem for a diskless workstation. The system downloads its kernel and initrd from a server. I have tried repeatedly to get a working installation of ssh on the initrd with no success. I finally got ssh to connect to the server. Normally when I use ssh the session goes as follows [arrummzen at localhost LFS-BOOK-6.0-HTML]$ ssh 192.168.11.10 -l

Losing hope.
Is it normal for rsync 2.5.5 to keep locking up on large HP/UX 11.0 files? I am not talking about a delay here, but locking up and never returning w/error. Anybody have any suggestions? rsync 2.5.5: HP-UX 11.11 vs. Linux
...2.5.5. Everything starts off really nice an quick, but the transfer then slows down to a crawl. On 100 Mb/s network I'm getting a few hunder bytes to a few hundred kilobytes per second. Other programs, like RCP and FTP, do not seem to have that problem. After running strace on Linux side and tusc on HP-UX side, I'm seing this: Linux------------------- select(1, NULL, [0], NULL, {240, 0}) = 1 (out [0], left {207, 980000}) write(0, "\374\17\0\7TORAGE 73 74 "..., 4096) = 4096 Linux------------------- HP-UX------------------- read(3, " 5 4 6 9...

I am trying to use a large (10TB) reiserfs filesystem as an rsync target. The filesystem is on top of lvm2 (pretty sure this doesn't matter, but just in case.) I get the following error when trying to sync a modest set of files to that 10TB target (just syncing /etc for now): rsync: writefd_unbuffered failed to write 4 bytes: phase "unknown": Broken pipe rsync error: error in
