hunting timeouts
...folders - the mail server is on HP server with server grade 2.5" HDDs in RAID 5 - the load average of the server is low (the 5/15 minute is under 0.20) - the mail server is in-house on Gigabit Ethernet The timeout we face is that sometimes even small messages take 20-40 seconds to open (i. e. Tunderbird 2 on Windows 7). Or connection to the mail server timeouts. Could you give me a few tips where can I look in order to detect the possible reason for these timeouts. Thank you, Iv

...#39;m having is with dovecot-lda functioning and making deliveries to my mailbox, but the sieve scripts don't seem to have any effect. Attempts at logging what is/isn't happening have been total failures. Managesieve seems to work fine, port 4190 is open on the server and it allows the tunderbird plugin to function, I can create and edit scripts with the plugin. For some reason it doesn't seem to auto-compile the scripts to binary form, but if I just need to do that manually I can live with it. I only mention the lack of auto-compiling in case that sheds light on what is wrong with...

Unwanted INBOX. prefix issues
I have a strange problem. I installed Dovecot and had my trash folder and such in the root of my maildir, and everything was working great. I then installed SquirrelMail which created folders in with the INBOX. prefix. I manually removed these from the maildir, but the INBOX.Trash is still shown in the folder listing of Thunderbird. This leads to some strange behavior, such as the delete
