outlook2003 fails sasl authentication
Hello all i have postfix running with dovecot-sasl and mysql as a backend.
It all runs good.
I run into trouble as where outlook 2003 fails to authenticate when
sending e-mail.
I have thunderbird outlook2007 and 2003 clients.
The tunderbird and 2007 clients are working OK, the outlook2003 client
get the relay access denied message.
In the postfix log i see it is not initiating sasl
they all use pop
i use dovecot 1.0.13
this is my posfix part of sasl

hunting timeouts
...folders
- the mail server is on HP server with server grade 2.5" HDDs in RAID 5
- the load average of the server is low (the 5/15 minute is under 0.20)
- the mail server is in-house on Gigabit Ethernet
The timeout we face is that sometimes even small messages take 20-40 seconds to open (i. e. Tunderbird 2 on Windows 7).
Or connection to the mail server timeouts.
Could you give me a few tips where can I look in order to detect the possible reason for these timeouts.
Thank you, Iv

But with no luck,
If I try to connect to Dovecot from openssl obtain an error:
"Verify return code: 20 (unable to get local issuer certificate)"
And now, if I enable on the client (Tunderbird) the encrypted password
obtain a message to reinsert the password
Here my Dovecot configuration:

Dovecot 2.2.1 LDA and sieve (lack of) errors
...#39;m having is with
dovecot-lda functioning and making deliveries to my mailbox, but the
sieve scripts don't seem to have any effect. Attempts at logging what
is/isn't happening have been total failures.
Managesieve seems to work fine, port 4190 is open on the server and it
allows the tunderbird plugin to function, I can create and edit scripts
with the plugin. For some reason it doesn't seem to auto-compile the
scripts to binary form, but if I just need to do that manually I can
live with it. I only mention the lack of auto-compiling in case that
sheds light on what is wrong with...

Access denied when client is connecting
...e: yes
mail_location: maildir:~/mailbox
auth default:
passdb:
driver: pam
args: *
userdb:
driver: passwd
the user woefl81 is a "normal" system user (from /etc/passwd):
woefl81:x:1001:100::/home/woefl81:/bin/bash
his main group is users.
on the client i installed mozilla tunderbird.. the user connects to the ip
of the linux box with his username (woefl81) and the same password as his
account pwd on the linux box.
it would be great if somebody had an idea what else i should try to get
dovecot to work as imap server. thank you very much in advance!
best regards, Florian

Unwanted INBOX. prefix issues
I have a strange problem. I installed Dovecot and had my trash folder and
such in the root of my maildir, and everything was working great. I then
installed SquirrelMail which created folders in with the INBOX. prefix. I
manually removed these from the maildir, but the INBOX.Trash is still shown
in the folder listing of Thunderbird. This leads to some strange behavior,
such as the delete
